I feel that if you see the world as a free place and that people have the right to their beliefs than you will see this central idea in a different light. Because in the culture that I am apart of is one that doesn't gives people like women the right to what they want to believe. This is a culture that has been wrecked, one that has not been moving in a good direction anymore. I have seen many times where a man will tell a girl that what she is or thinks is not worth it, nobody cares, these are the girls that will one day not be confident. This I think makes me put an emphasis on people are treating Marji and other women in Persepolis. Eventually, they will crumble, they will fall, but it is everyone who doesn't oppress their beliefs that will pick them back up. It is what my parents have always done when I get crushed down by mean people they remind you that you are special and worth it. In this book you see that Marji loses faith in who she is from pressures she receives from others. Also it is here parents in the beginning who try to build her back up but eventually they fall to this downslide of oppression.

This quote is the start of women's oppression because now they have to wear the veil at school. These girls didn't understand it at first but over the book as Marji grows up she starts to feel less of a person or trapped under the veil. As she is obligated to wear the veil you start to see her personality vanish. Finally as she come out and rebels against it she starts to find herself again.

The reason I picked this quote because it shows the loss that Marji is feeling about her beliefs. In the beginning, she is confident and wants to be a prophet but after being oppressed and told that that would be crazy to have a women prophet. These are the statements that are used to show us how she felt and so did the author felt at a time like this. Anyone of faith can probably relate to feeling as if God didn't come, but this comes from an issue and the issue here is the oppression of women.

I picked this quote from Marji's mother because it shows how rude the men are treating women during this time period. Not only was this very rude but it caused her mother to be sick for several days. This was all because she didn't have the veil on. This veil has become too much of a controversy in this country. Still today across the world we debate as according to the Huffington Post is the veil a symbol of diversity or a symbol of oppression. I think Marji's family saw it as a symbol of oppression.

Today you hear, oh she has great "maternal instincts". This is a symbol of a mother who has a great love for her children. When Marji says that she is doubting that there is such a thing. That is sad because I believe that every mother should with full confidence have this trait. This is a trait that could end up saving your kid because you go all the way to save them. When all of these women are getting oppressed

You can hear in this quote the anger the Marji has against god for everything that has happened. She wants out because she believes that God didn't do what she thought he would do. These events are some of the most noticeable ways to see how Marji has lost belief in herself and the value of her believes.
