Closeness is the concept in music that describes multiple musicians or musical elements "acting in purest coordination". Ratcliff describes closeness as being something that is developed over time. He goes on to say that closeness is developed throughout the song so that the listener gets a "jacketed feeling". I agree with Ratcliff's ideas on closeness because closeness gives the song a more unique ensemble of sounds or voices for the listener to pay attention to. When a listener experiences the concept of closeness while listening to music, they are trying to understand the musician's way of moving past normalcy.

This song is good example of closeness. The upbeat Blue-Grass/Alternative Rock song begins with a fast-paced high pitched fiddle solo. At certain points of the song, a guitar cuts in with a very sharp, low note. The narrative-like singing plays over the subtle parts of the beat while allowing most of the fiddle and guitar solos to be played alone.
