Using technology is easier and more effective for both students and teachers but teachers can't rest on their laurels with it. We have to constantly keep ourselves in the loop with new technology for education. There a numerous ways to use technology as a writing tool, and it's important to find which tools work best for the students you teach. Technology definitely keeps kids engaged and motivated. I like how this chapter broke it down with a variety of different ways to implement it in your class. With teaching five classes, it is nice to have everything on my computer. I look forward to using Mind-Mapping, which is a google program. In this chapter, it also broke down ways to use Seesaw. We use Seesaw in school, and I didn't know all of the ways it could be used. I enjoy using apps because I don’t have to assist them as much with the process. Our kids are more tech savvy than we are… my son surprised me during Covid quarantine when he took my husband’s laptop and was toggling between Safari pages and logging onto scheduled zoom lessons by himself in 2nd grade. Our kids get it… and these tools will be what they use as the progress from grade to grade… and it’s up to us to make sure we try to stay on top of it for them. My master’s degree is geared towards technology in the classroom… and after reading this chapter I realized how many new programs I need to learn. I think that is an important lesson for all teachers, it is easy to get comfortable in our teaching approach.
