         <description><![CDATA[<p>In the neolithic period, the first inhabitans of Great Britain started the construction of Stonehenge, a circle of huge stones, which is now a famous World Heritage Site. We don't know exactly why or how it wase built. It is about 4000-4500 years old.</p>]]></description>

         <title>The romans</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The name Britain comes from Britannia, the name given to the country by the Romans. In 55 BC the Romans invaled Englad which became part of the Roman Empire. They were led by Jiulius Caesar. The Romans stayed for almost 400 years and they changed the way of life many ways: they introduced new developments in agriculture, urbanization, industry, arhitecture and in language too, leving a Latin legacy that is still evident in modern English. The Romans built roads, forst and founded several towns like London (Londinium), Bath, York, and Gloucester. The Emperor Hadrian had a wall built (begum on AD 122 and known as Hadrian's Wall) to keep aggressive Scots out of England.</p>]]></description>

They pushed the Briston towards Wales, Cornwall, and Ireland, whwrw Celtic languages are still spoken today. The Angolo-Saxson settled in England and became predominant. The name England itself mens "the land of the Angles".</p>]]></description>

The were great travellers and conquered large parts of what is now England. By the 11 century, the country was united under Alfred the Great, a Saxon king, who defeatedthe Danes. He built schools and monasteries to spread culture among his people.</p>]]></description>
