Most interesting chapter:

The most interesting chapter was Chapter 1. The name of this chapter is The Head is a Terrible Thing to Waste: Practicing Surgery on the Dead. This chapter was interesting because it is the first chapter in the book and it gets you interested about the rest of the book. This chapter talked about how great a human head is. It also went in to detail about the rooms where surgeries are performed on cadaver heads. Specifically stating that "These heads appear to be loped off just below the chin." I thought it was interesting to know exactly where the heads were cut because I always imagined it to be like a mannequin head.

Most humorous chapter:

The most humorous chapter to me was Chapter 6. The name of this chapter is The Cadaver Who Joined the Army: The sticky ethic of bullets and bombs. This chapter was not really funny but it was also kind of humorous. This chapter talked about how researchers took dead bodies and pretty much just killed them again. They did this to study the effect of different bullets and guns in warfare. One quote that stood out to me was "They were suspended from a tackle in the ceiling of the firing range, shot at in a dozen different places and with a dozen different charges, and autopsied." I just can't imagine a bunch of bodies hanging around like dummies and being shot at.

In my opinion the most gruesome chapter was Chapter 3. The name of this chapter is Life After Death: On human decay and what can be done about it. This chapter is gruesome to me because it talks about how this research facility places bodies in an open field and studies how they decay. This chapter mentions maggots eating decaying bodies. A gruesome quote I noticed was, "See the [haciendas] under the skin? They're eating the subcutaneous fat. They love fat." This was very gross to read about to me.

Most shocking chapter:

The most shocking chapter in my opinion was Chapter 6. The name of this chapter is Holy Cadaver: The crucifixion experiments. This chapter is shocking because Dr. Barbet dedicated most of his time to study how Jesus died on a cross. I think it was weird that Barbet would nail bodies or parts of bodies to homemade crosses. Barbet's main question was "Jesus' legs gave out an he was forced to hang the entire weight of his body off his nailed palms, wouldn't the nails rip right through the flesh?" It is shocking that Barbet was so dedicated to find out how crucifixion works.

After reading this book I would never consider donating my body to science. After seeing the gruesome things done to bodies donated to science I wouldn't want to donate. I would still donate my organs to help others but I think donating your whole body is kind of nasty.
