Punch - is a rhum and fruit mix with added sugar and spices. It is served as an apéritif before starting a meal, both as a matter of tradition and because the drink itself is strongly alcoholic.

A popular tradition is that “chacun prépare sa propre mort” (everyone prepares his own death). Instead of serving the mixed drink, the host will simply put out the ingredients, and everyone will prepare the drink according to his or her own taste.

Because it's my birthday the day before the start, I'm also bringing something typical from the part of Austria where I originally come from: "Mohnzelten" (kind of cake with poppy)

I have Indonesian roots, so I will be bringing Spekkoek. Spekkoek is a treat in Indonesian culture, enjoyed during festive occasions. It's a cake made with Eastern spices and is labor-intensive to make because it has to be baked layer by layer. In the Netherlands, Spekkoek has also become a popular delicacy served with coffee. I'll be bringing two different flavors to Guadeloupe: speculaas and Pandan.

The Dutch peanut butter might be best there is. We eat it on toast as breakfast and/or lunch. I brought it with so you can decide it yourself. The brand says that children will grow big and strong from peanut butter. This might be the reason the Dutch are among the tallest people in the world.
