Sandoval presents information that suggests drag is not just one thing, it is many things and drag artists are being commodified for our entertainment. What began as theatre is now reality TV. Other TV shows about singing and dancing, such as Britain’s Got Talent, could be argued to commodify singers and dancers yet the audience enjoys this as a television form, taking over Saturday night television screens. Sandoval is correct in saying RuPaul’s Drag Race has commodified drag but perhaps it was always inevitable and it is not necessarily a bad thing considering the number of people the show has supported.

It also connects to Adam Bloodworth's review of the show as Bloodworth criticizes the show for presenting the drag queens in a poor light. Sandoval similarly suggests the show represents drag as a commodity, putting a negative spin on it.

This in turn highlights RuPaul’s significance as a female character and legitimises him as a celebrity. The article promotes RuPaul as a brand and suggests the magnitude of benefits it can have for the community.

This suggests that a star is always a commodity. Like Dyer, Morin suggests that a star can merchandise themselves in a way that society will be able to partake in and buy into. RuPaul has definitely created this star image and these characters that are easily marketable and can be replicated on a grand scale, hence his ever-expanding list of spin-off Netflix shows and DragCon events that are beginning to occur all over the world. He is a commodity which he and his team are happy to promote.

In support of Abby Aguirre, for the case of RuPaul, it suggests that as his on stage and offstage personas are very similar, as interviewers have commented, he aims to connect the two identities for fans and suggests he is not putting on any kind of ‘act’ for them.
