Knights were expected to wear suits of armor and ride on horse back in battle for extra protection. Their jobs were to grow and harvest vegetables and crops that they grew in gardens near their homes. Peasants were expected to live and stay on the manor for the rest of their lives. They were not educated because the manor did not have school on it and they were to make their own clothes because there were not any clothing shops on the manor either.

Around the year 1000 towns started to appear all over Europe. With population increasing because of the new farming technology, more and more people left their manors life to live in the town. At this same time trade started to increase in towns because people learned that you can trade food or other goods for money. This lead to knights wanting money instead of land and lead to the manor system slowly weakening.
