This book illustrates all different types for sea life. The rainbow fish is used to show how being "different" is okay. Throughout the book, there are multiple colors and features that catch the eye of the reader. This relates to us as humans for our unique characteristics and how just like the rainbow fish, everyone has their own individual features that make us ourselves.

This book illistrates diveristy by showing how a group of friends who are animals and want to show how they are all unquie in their own ways. At the end they all transform into one another to show how they all accpect each other. For example the elephant comes out having a kangroos pouch. No matter the differences between them they all are still great friends.

This book shows diversity by handling the issues of wanting to find accpectance. Raven was the last to hatch and learn how to fly and because of this he was bullied by his fellow peers. However. he overcame this by flying to the moon and showing this fellow peers that just because he was the last of the bunch and learned a bit slower, he could do the same thing as they could.

Pfister's was inspired by his wife and by his first published book "The Sleepy Owl". His wife was a teacher and often would help him with ideas. When his publisher wanted him to write another book, he felt inspired by his first and wanted a similar character to the owl. He came up with the idea of a rainbow fish as he noticed he could change feathers to scales and make them rainbow. Lastly, Pfister was inspired to create children's books that parents could also relate to.
