The game begins with the user waking up as Eric Harris on the day of the shootings. You meet with Dylan Klebold after a bomb has been planted in the school, which eventually doesn't blow up, causing you to have to enter the school and manually murder whoever comes in your way. In the actual shooting 13 were murdered, however in the game it is up to the user to kill as many people as possible.

It even includes the suggestion that the shooters were re-enacting the killings from the video game 'doom'. This puts you in the mindset of the killers, and allows you to see their thought process as they slaughter everyone in their sights. Obviously the effects of this are fairly worrying...

The 2006 Dawson College Shooting was a massacre closely similar to that of the Columbine High School Massacre. It was done by Kimveer Singh Gill who was an ex-student of the college, and he murdered 1 and shot 19. He credited much of his thought process to the Columbine High School Shooting, which was largely down to the playing of the SCMRPG game - without this it is unlikely that he would have had the inspiration to commit the murders.

Clearly, in inspiring a massacre, the game is largely immoral. However, in this case, it wasn't the simulated killing that caused the issue, it was the recreation of the thought processes that caused a similar recreation of the recreation (of the recreation).

Harris reportedly created a map for the game which was a close replica to Columbine High School, which he used to invisage the murders.

Similarly, the character being killed in the game is not suffering, as it is fictional. So the utilitarian would not see an issue with the immediate impacts of the simulation.

As proven from the 2006 Dawson College shooting, the consequences of the game caused a further level of suffering beyond its intended level. Therefore we can say that it is not the user who suffers from the game (Kimveer Singh Gill - instead he would have enjoyed the benefits) but those who are eventually harmed by the user due to the playing of the game. Similarly the loved ones of those who died in the original massacre would undergo a fair amount of suffering due to the game - to have your child's/siblings deaths played out for everyone to witness is horrible.

Actually the reason why Ledonne created the game in the first place was because he realised that he was headed down a similar path to Harris and Klebold - he was bullied in school, he had a similar background, and his life was at the time beginning to fall apart. Therefore it could be said that in creating the game Ledonne actually saved himself, and possibly others, from commiting a similar massacre to the one depicted in the game, because in a way they can satisfy their 'fantasies' through a game, causing no damage to the real world. This benefit is reflected in some of the reviews on google that actually look at the game from a more positive stance. Interestingly, the majority of the reviews are positive, as they either say that the game allows us to have a useful insight into the minds of the perpetrators, or simply 'i loved shooting up columbine like my heroes'.
