O Life! to his students, in one of his first interactions with them.  Initially, the students seemed to overlook the interaction, but as the movie progresses, the words of Walt Whitman become more relevant.  Keating pushes his students to think for themselves, and wants them to succeed not only in his class, but as they move on in life.  Additionally, he preaches to his kids, the importance of carpe diem-- to live in the present, think for now, and live life to its fullest potential.  Neil is so inspired by Keating that he auditions for a play that he knows he won’t be able to perform in because his father prohibits him from taking part of things that are a “waste of time,” or not directly tied with the pursuit of a medical career.  But, Neil had such a passion to act that he went through and performed, to delight of his friends and so many onlookers,  literally contributing his verse to society.  In the end though, Neil cannot withstand the pressure that his parents have constantly put upon him, and he kills himself, so he no longer has to conform to what others want for him, and he can “live” for himself.  His “verse” to society came through the incredible friendships that he built and his conviction that  constantly exhibited.

I selected a video documentary that captures many different locations in Italy.  As the video starts with a sunrise over the Italian countryside; birds are chirping, and the sun breaks through the clouds.  The video transitions to the city of Venice, showing the packed alleys, and the narrow waterways that are dispersed throughout the city.  It is a tour through the old, packed cities and towns of Italy.  The images are peaceful, and embrace the beauty found within what some may find to be dirty and outdated villas.  To conclude the video, there is a sunset over the Italian countryside, bringing the whole experience full circle.  This video would be a modern example of the transcendental tenet of return to nature and simplicity.  Literally in the video, there is a return to nature from the hustle and energy of city life, presenting a calm and peaceful landscape, with nothing but rolling hills and a painted sky.  The video itself does not focus on the main tourist attractions found within Italy, but more of the charming, seemingly unnoticed aspects of the cities of Italy.  The breathtaking landscapes and lighting help intensify the beauty of the buildings that are depicted.  The things are sought to be simplistic and possibly overlooked are enhanced and become more beautiful with the beautiful lighting.  The video utilizes the best aspects of nature to create a beautiful array of stunning images. The simplicity of some things are modified by the beautiful natural elements.

I thought that my constitution would include my morals and the things that I believe in.  In today’s society many people do not have their own “constitution” and they just listen to what other people say is good for them.  Not enough people have self-reliance, and they just go with what everyone else is doing, rather than thinking for themselves.
