En effet, une fractale est un objet géométrique «infiniment morcelé» dont des détails sont observables à une échelle arbitrairement choisie.

Suite à une classe préparatoire au lycée Saint-Louis (Paris), elle obtient la licence et maîtrise de Mathématiques Pures (Paris 6), pour ensuite intégrer l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan. Elle fait une thèse dans cette école,  et elle termine par une habilitation à diriger les recherches (Paris 6) en variations appliquées : De la théorie mathématique aux modèles 
Outils pour la Mécanique. Elle a donc était Maître de Conférences à l’INSA de Rouen et actuellement elle est maître de Conférences à l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris 6, et membre du 
laboratoire Jacques Louis Lions.
