Creativity -

There was only student who took full IB Diploma course. As a result he had to work on his own, so he thought of designing jackets for all his peers. He worked closely with visual art students in designing the logo and other art work on jackets. He also collaborated with the printing person of the school to help him in printing the drafts.
But he single handedly approached the school's facility manager to contact the vendor and get the printing done on the jackets.

Creativity:
Tradition in our school is DP2 students get to wear a US letterman-style jacket and polo top which is different to the rest of the school uniform.

Students in DP 1 are responsible for design of this jacket and polo top/ logo's/ material/ colours etc...

Collaborative: a jacket committee volunteers to take on the project by themselves and assigns roles.

Visual arts students involved to create.
Business students involved in the planning and ordering etc...

There is a Service element to it also as they provide a service to the rest of the DP2 community.

There is a large refugee population in Vienna. Many have lost their possessions in the transition to Austria. A student with an interest in photography could work with the leaders of a refugee care center to organize a photo session for interested families so they have a family portrait.

Jeans for Teens- students can have a jean drive to collect gently used jeans for students at children's home/shelter.

Sew Wonderful to See - Students have a drive to collect prescription glasses in the community and sew eye glass cases. These parcels will support the people of Haiti. There is a service element and creativity in sewing each eyeglass case.

An Idea from Switzerland-Activity

A group of Students planned to cycle across Switzerland from East (The Lake of Constance) to Geneva. One was responsible for bike mainatenance. Another for finding accomodation, another for the route and another for a joint budget and finance

Race to raise awareness and funds for  the refugee rights. we can also collaborate with other schools in the community or around the world. It is possible to raise sponsorships or the cost of participation and donate the profit to non-profit organizations that take care of refugee rights.

Project: End Violence Against Women (C/A/S)

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women taking place on 25 November students are going to organize themselves to perform a number of initiatives over the whole month of November to raise awareness.

(i) create an Instagram account to sensibilize the community on the matter,
(ii) develop t-shirts with specific messages against the violence on women, sell them and donate the revenues to a specific no-profit association
(iii) enroll in a charity marathon and run the race with the shirts they have developed and promote the instagram account they have developed

My school is located in a small place in Sweden, and around us we have farms and forests. A very good project that I know some students have worked on before is helping the elderly pick up potatoes in the potato field. Many small farms here have potato fields outside the house, but picking potatoes is hard work. if the potato is not picked up every autumn, you risk the potatos dying. Helping the elderly locals harvesting potatoes is a good way to give support to the community.

I am brainstorming here!

Need: Every year, we get at least 20 new students (and their families) who have just moved to Austria (from all over the world) and have enrolled at the LISA.

I believe that we need to do a better job of integrating the new students and their families to life A) in Austria, and B) at the LISA.

Project: Students could think of ways to help these students (and their families) become part of the community. So the students would need to work together to conceive, plan and implement a long-term (to be passed on to future generations) program to accomplish this.

Strands: As I envisage this, all three Strands would be addressed. Focus would be on Service.

We have visited this orphanage multiple times and I've noticed that the kids do not have a library or a reading corner there. Students can ask the school community to donate books, volunteer to put up some shelves, pain the wall with the kids in the orphanage, put some light and some cushions to make the place cozy and comfortable.

2. Gathering a group of students who want to actively seek funds for their construction.

3. Cooperation with:

- School principal (permission and a separate place)

- construction company to sponsor material and service

- companies / parents / students / teachers to collect found or to sign for help in the preparation and construction of the shelter

CAS Project: "Where we came from"
S and C

My school is in the process of moving to a new campus. Very little will be taken from the old campus to the new. The awards, banners, trophies, display cases are all staying because a part of the "new build deal" is that the architecture and design firm is in charge the vision of the school.

Finding ways to document the school history on the new campus and ensuring that it isn't lost in the process of moving:

- Photo albums
- Mosaic of photos
- Creating placks of school records to be put up in new build
- Organizing an event that allows for students to celebrate the old and new
- Establishing an alumni group to help with all of the above and create a dialogue on what it is like to be part of this great community.

It is tradision in my school that every year in August DP2 host a party for the new arrivals in August. It is often a grillparty by the lake. It is a good way to make the new students feel welcome in their new school. It is handled entirely by students and parents.
