I only got to know you this year, but what a year it has been! I've learned SO much about chemistry this year (quite frankly, it's unbelievable how much my chem knowledge and skills have grown this past year). Purple is the color that has made the most impact on not only me, but my older brother, in the last six years. It is also the background to this wall. Every mole we have made on mole day has aimed to be purple. This color will remain a reminder for the greatest chem class anyone could have taken for high school throughout your career.

I moved to California the summer of my junior year from a tiny town in Massachusetts. In my senior year, I decided to take Chem AP and it was the most terrifying decision but also best decision I've made. My chemistry background was not the strongest but I was scared of asking for help in general from teachers, so I didn't know what to do. What a year! It is amazing how much one can learn and change in a year. In just a year I learned the basics of chemistry to topics I thought I would never reach. Of course, this rapid growth of knowledge can only ever be taught by someone who is extraordinary and unique. That person is you. You are truly an icon not only in the science department, but at the school, and for good reason. You completely defined and revamped Mountain View’s science department, and made it into one in which students could both learn chemistry in depth, yet not feel overwhelmed.

Dr. T, I would say one of your most defining qualities is your ability to mix kindness and still retain a commitment to advanced learning. Your uncompromising drive to ensuring that students learn was palpable.

The challenges of your class truly made it fascinating- every time you described an experiment, or talked about a concept, everyone in the room could feel your passion, and you modeled true commitment for everyone in the classroom.
