She might look like a normal ordinary girl but she has hope and determination. Unfortunately, they built the wall at the night her father and brother traveled to West Berlin to find a job. With that happening, she gets separated from her father and stays with her mother and oldest brother. 
One day she was doing her daily walk with her best friend Anna, wondering and looking at the wall. After she passed about half the wall, she saw her little brother Dominic. She looked in shock on how much he has grown and stays there smiling until a guard threatened her. The next day she came to the same part of the wall and was again shocked but this time she saw her long missed father. When she was about to talk to her half of her family until a guard came up to her with his loaded gun and she ran to school. 
After a year or so she is determined o build a tunnel, but she had nothing to dig with, nowhere to dig without getting caught, and she was way to weak to do it alone. So with this, her brother found out and they both build it together. Many obstacles get in their way but they are determined. 
This book was a wonderful and tense book to read. This would have to be one of my favorites by far. I could also connect with this because more than half pf my family is stuck in Syria without me seeing them for mare than 6 years. This book gave me many emotions all at one time. Also with the amount of detail that has been given in the book, I could feel everything that happens to Greta and her brother.
