The Durlsleys is the threshold guardian because he stands in the way of the hero at important turning points.

Professor McGonagall is the Shapeshifter because she can transform their shape and appearance. So that's why Professor McGonagall is the Shapeshifter.

Hagrid is an ally because he supports another person in cause. Hagrid also helps the hero in moments of crisis.

Ron and Hermione are the Herald because they act as a signal of the coming change.

Harry the supreme ordeal .Harry's supreme ordeal would be when he is facing Quirrell. This is more challenging than the other test before it because he is entirely unprepared for it.

Harry gets the Sorcerer's stone. It is valuable to Harry because he does not want it to fall into the wrong hands. But another reward it that Harry sort of finds his self worth.

The Road Back

After Harry finds that the sorcerer's stone is in his pocket, he needs to find a way to defeat Quirrell / You-Know-Who while at the same time preventing them from acquiring it.
