Keyes creates conflict in Flowers for Algernon by establishing that the main character (Charles Gordon) is going to have an operation to alter his intelligence. His characters start to connect throughout the book when in the beginning Charles races a mouse named Algernon and tries to beat him in a maze. Later the mouse starts to change for the worse - behavior and intelligence wise. Algernon eventually dies and it becomes evident that soon Charles will suffer the same fate because they had both recieved the same operation. Charles is seemingly emotionally connected to the mouse, as he saw to it that flowers were put on the mouses grave, and Charles himself mentions, "Everyone identifies me with Algernon. In a way we're both the first of our kind."

The author Daniel Keyes created conflict in Flowers for Algernon by making the protagonist, Charlie Gordon, go through an operation to make him smarter. This creates conflict because it puts Charlie in a situation where there are many possibilities for complications allowing the story to be more interesting and open to more possible situations. The characters begin to connect when Charlie and Algernon, the mouse, have to race to test their intelligence before Charlie received the operation. After Charlie has his surgery he progressively gets smarter and begins to think of Algernon as a friend. Later on in the story Algernon's behavior gets worse and his intelligence starts to decline, and because Algernon and Charlie underwent the same operation, Charlie realizes the this will happen to him too. Eventually when Algernon died Charlie decided to bury him in his backyard and even leave flowers on his grave.

Keyes creates conflict in Flowers for Algernon by creating a situation where as the protagonist, Charlie, became more intelligent he loses his friends. When he had his normal intelligence he didn't understand that his coworkers were mocking him and making fun of him. When they made jokes about him Charlie would laugh and so he thought that those people were his friends. When he became more intelligent he understood that they were not actually as friendly as he thought. The characters started to connect after this. Since he did not consider his coworkers his friends anymore he got closer to other people like his teacher, Miss Kinnian, and the mouse, Algernon. Charlie asked Miss Kinnian on a date and he started to enjoy racing Algernon and playing with him. When Algernon dies Charlie even buries him in his backyard and puts flowers on his grave.

Daniel Keyes created a conflict in Flowers for Algernon by making Charlie Gordon, the protagonist, go through the operation to have him become more intelligent. Later in the story, after the operation his spelling and punctuation is not accurate. The affects that are happening to Charlie also happened to Algernon. Soon, later in the story, Algernon becomes less responsive and loses his intelligence. As he writes during June, he realizes more and more that he is losing his intelligence. He realizes that he could not type anymore with a typewriter and that his coordination becomes less accurate. Soon in June 30th, he realizes he can not read and write like he was able to before. Charlie eventually realizes that Algernon and him may both be destined upon the same fate.

Daniel Keyes created conflict in the story "Flowers for Algernon" by adding side effects to the important operation that was used to make a person (in this case Charlie) extremely intelligent. The side-effects were first noticed when the mouse named Algernon, who had also gotten the same operation only a few months before Charlie, started showing signs of mood changes, and the lack of incentive. Soon after, Algernon dies and Charlie finds out that Algernon's brain slowly decreased in size and deteriorated. Charlie then knows that the same thing that happened to Algernon will happen to him since they both had the same operation. A few weeks later, Charlie shows signs of memory loss, and his intelligence was slowly fading away.. Charlie and Algernon connected the best, especially a few weeks after Charlie's operation since they both shared a connection through their intelligence. When Algernon died, Charlie buried him in the backyard, made a grave (out of a cheese box) and even put flowers . He also connected with his teacher Miss Kinnian, since she was the one who asked the Doctors to test out Charlie to see if he was good enough for the operation. After their "dinner date" Charlie found out that he was in love with Miss Kinnian and that "The thought of leaving her behind made me sad"

The way that Daniel Keyes creates a conflict in the short story "Flowers for Algernon" is when the main character, Charlie Gordon, gets an operation done to make him more intelligent, but everything he has learned, or knew before, is slowly being forgotten. Earlier in the short story, Charlie has a connection with a mouse named Algernon. The connection they have starts when Charlie learns that Algernon had the same operation that Charlie had, just a few months before he did. Algernon starts to act differently though as time goes on. He won't eat, he has sever mood swings, and his intelligence was wasting away. Algernon dies later on in the story, and the reason behind that was that Algernon's brain was slowly decreasing in size and it was degenerating. Charlie finds out that he will soon have the same fate as Algernon.

Daniel Keyes created conflict in the story Flowers for Algernon by showing how the protagonist, Charlie Gordon, has to go through the operation to become more intelligent. After having time spent learning and becoming more intelligent, Charlie realizes that he has difficulty communicating with others due to the fact that not everyone can relate to things on his level. His characters connect by helping Charlie throughout the story. Characters like Ms. Kinnian, Dr. Strauss, Dr. Nemur, and Burt work in the laboratory and help Charlie learn and record his progress. Characters like Joe Carp and Frank Reilly stand as a complication at first, in which Charlie realizes that his "friends" only hung around him for laughs. Charlie and Algernon are connected in the sense that they are both in the same situation. They both are the only ones with the same operation, so it is believed that whatever happens to Algernon will happen to Charlie. This is what implies that Charlie will die soon.

The author Daniel Keyes creates conflict in "Flowers For Algernon" by making the main character, Charlie Gordon start to lose his intelligence after reaching the apex of intelligence. Charlie and his "friends" connect because before charlie's operation the friends would make fun of Charlie, but Charlie thought they were joking around. After the operation Charlie and his fake friends drift because Charlie realizes they were making fun of him. The characters connect because Charlie and Algernon race to test their intelligence. After Charlie's operation he starts to get smarter, and starts to see Algernon as a friend. Later on charlie begins to realize that Algernon had the same operation done. Algernon progressively gets worse and Eventually passes away, and Charlie buries Algernon in his backyard. But afterward, intelligence starts decreasing a while after his operation which gave him his intelligence. His new intelligence caused him to lose people he previously called friends after realizing that they were making fun of him. He also has a liking for Algernon who is a mouse that had the same operation as him to become smart. A bit more into the story. Algernon's intelligence decreases and soon dies. Charlie then starts losing his intelligence as well. He also becomes emotionally unstable. Charlie and Algernon had the same operation and Charlie realizes that he is going to die as well.

Keyes creates conflict in Flowers for Algernon by demonstrating that Charlie Gordon, the main character, is invoked into an operation that will increase his intelligence. The characters, known as Algernon (the mouse) and Charlie Gordon connect in this book by starting out as "race buddies" to beat one another through a maze. These two characters connected due to the fact that they were both performed in the same operation, and were reflections of one another since used in the same experiment. This meaning that the harmful affect on Algernon- failed operation, soon affected Charlie the same way. Both of their intelligence decreased and deterioted over time. Towards the end of the book, Algernon passes, and Charlie soon finds that he will be affected likewise as Algernon. Charlie starts to realize that he's losing his memory and smarts, and ends up the same as he was before the operation. The characters connected because they were correspondent of one another, apart of the experiment, and experienced alike fate.

Daniel Keyes created a conflict by having Charlie going to the doctors who were trying to increase intelligence by surgical means. The whole story would not have happened if Charlie had not went to the doctors. The characters all connected with Charlie. In my opinion, Charlie and Algernon connected the most. They did from the beginning, they both had their intelligence improved by surgery. I think that Miss Kinnian was more to Charlie than just a teacher and I think that by the end of the story, Charlie understood the doctors.

I think that the author Daniel Keyes creates conflict in "Flowers for Algernon" by making the main character go through a operation to help him get smarter and to help raise his IQ. While he was working at his job he thought that some of his coworkers were his friends because they were making jokes with him, just joking, and Charile (the main character) would laugh around with them, but they were actually making fun of him and joking about him. Once the operation was over and he was more intelligent he released that they were making fun of him and understood that they were not his friends he started to get closer with other characters such as Algernon and Miss Kannian. Soon after Algernon dies and Charlie starts to understand that he will have the same fate because they both received the same operation.

After the operation, Charlie gets smarter, and starts to think of Algernon as a friend. While the story keeps going and more events were placed in the story Charlie starts to notice that over the course of time Gordan gets smarter and smarter everyday but while he gets smarter his days of being smart are starting to shorten and he relizes that he is only going to be smart for a short period of time and then he will go back to what he once was.

The 2 characters Charlie and a mouse named Algernon, connect beause, they have had the same operatlion done on them to make them smarter. Algernon had his operation a little while before Charlie. They soon become close friends. Later on, Algernon dies and since he and Charlie had the same kind of operation done, Charlie thought he was next to pass away, so he does research to see if his theory was correct or not. Charlie needed to race Algernon, the mouse, before beginning the operation. After surgery, Charlie becomes smarter and then thinks of Algernon as a friend. Near the end of the story, Algernon passed and Charlie then find out he will also have the same effect of the surgery as Algernon did.

Daniel Keyes creates conflict in 'Flowers for Algernon' by building the fact that Charlie Gordon, the protagonist, is chosen to go through a surgery operation to increase his intelligence. This happens in the beginning of the story when he has to write everything that happens to him everyday. Keyes' characters connect in the story by playing an important part in Charlie's life. For example, he meets Algernon, a mouse that has been operated on the same way before. Algernon was put in a maze that he has to go through to increase intelligence. This made Charlie very interested and amazed by his abilities, making Charlie and Algernon very close and sharing many memories for later in the story. This connects the other characters with each other.

This created a conflict because this was the first time going against algernon and it also gave him courage to keep trying to beat him. When he lost against algernon it encouraged him to follow through with the surgery alongside Mrs. Kinnian telling him it is a good idea. After getting the surgery charlie beat algernon the reason for this is because when he first raced algernon.
