it starts with with a dude getting arrested and going to a camp that there are some boys that are criminals and they have to dig a hole 5 feet wide and deep.

It starts of when Anne is talking about what she got for her birthday. then she starts saying about some people in her class weather there nice or a brat. soon after they start moving there stuff into the secret Annex, they spent the whole day cleaning up. Anne was so upset that they couldn't go out side,talk( they could only whisper) and even cough! for cleaning themselves they had to use a tin bath, they each had there bath's in different rooms. The frank family always gets a big fright and think that someone has found there hiding place. We find out that Anne has a favorite pen, it was a fountain pen, she through it in the fire ( by accident.) Anne starts to get herself into an argument about weather or not she gets to use a desk, she asked 'very politely'. The family finds out that Mr Dussel had been steeling all there food, How rude! Anne starts to confess her love for peter, she starts to call him petel. at the end of the diary Anne says that she wishes there weren't any poeple in the world.

peony works on her farm that shes lives on, she calls herself a, 'Bee'. Ma goes to the city to work most days, but one day peony has to go with Ma. They go to someones house to work as selves for money. (Peony's family is poor.) There's a girl called Esmeralda there, (Ez for short.) & also Ivy. Ez is a bit mean to Peony at first, (Peony's Ez's selve.) then they come best friends, Peony helps Ez with school and makes Ez become very brave. Peony likes it at Ez's place but she want to get home. How will she get home? Does she get home?

Ma comes one day and takes Peony without Peony getting a chance to say goodbye to Gramps and Mags. she goes to work at the pasquales house and becomes friends with a girl called Esmeralda. Esmeralda was scared of going outside, but Peony helps her face her fears. Peony wanted to go back to her farm with Gramps and Mags, So Esmeralda helps her get home.

People in the city were violent. Peony needs to escape! And get back to her home in the little old shed on the farm.

Crossing is about a 10-11 year old girl called Cara. She is the older sister of a family of four. Lilith is her younger sister, and her Mum and Dad. This book is sort of like the Berlin Wall, in the way that the city is separated by a wall and one side is better, like in Crossing the richer side has a supermarket and it's much cleaner than the lesser side, which has a LINE to get food and they only get it in the afternoons. The lesser side of the wall is very dirty but they DO have good things like a school and a playground and a death slide. Cara has known Leon a bit and his family, which consists of Gretchen (Mum) Marco (Dad) and Ava (Big Sister). She meets Ava when Leon and her were testing a homemade bow. They decided to go to the Canal and practice shooting. Later on in the story Cara hears Ava make a joke about the Wall, which is considered a Suspicious Act. She reported Ava to her parents and after felt immensely guilty.

Peony does not like it there and she trys everything the escape, but her Mum's boyfriend that she calls an 'ape' because he is so big and scarey doens't let her leave and is always fighting with Peony. Will Peony be able to get home to all her friends and family? or will she be stuck there for the rest of her life and never get to do the job she loves?

Anne starts talking about her classmates and saying if there nice or if there a brat. In the next few chapters she gives us a tour of her hiding place (the annexe) Anne and her father (Otto) spend the whole day cleaning the place as Margot (Annes sister) and Edith (Annes mother) are really tired. Everyone is so paranoid of the neighbors hearing a sound from where they are they have even forbidden Margot to cough! Anne is feeling very upset that she cant go outside and she also feels that her and Margot are getting treated differently.
