When we discuss UN reform, we are referring to the processes of re-evaluating, restructuring, and enhancing the operations and structures of the United Nations system. The objective is to increase the organization's effectiveness, efficiency, accountability, and inclusivity, ensuring it can adequately respond to the evolving global challenges.

Several key terms emerge in discussions of UN reform. These include "effectiveness", implying the improved ability of the UN to fulfill its mandate and respond appropriately to global crises; "efficiency", relating to optimizing the use of resources; "accountability", ensuring all UN entities are answerable for their actions and that there are mechanisms in place to enforce this; "transparency", increasing openness, communication, and accessibility of information; and "inclusivity", ensuring all member states, stakeholders, and communities are involved in decision-making processes.

The UN reform also encompasses "coordination" and "coherence", aiming for better synergy among various UN bodies to avoid duplication of efforts, while "gender equality" and "sustainability" are pivotal areas to ensure the reform aligns with global goals and principles. In essence, UN reform is a comprehensive effort to make the United Nations more capable of addressing the complex, interconnected challenges of the 21st century.

This organisation which was set up at the time of a historic crisis of world war II needs total revamping in terms of oraganisational setup where more voice is given to the Developing world also. The Paris agreement of 2015 Implementing the 17 global goals is a very historic step in this direction. But we are running out of time and the UN must use the COP28 meet to finalize all negotiations full and final that will bring about in meeting the requirements of the 4Ps - People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace for all.
