Hi my name is Jammie Freaner. I started my journey with Madison College in 2002, while in High School through a Cross Education Program. I entered the Liberal
Arts Program taking Spanish and General Ed courses for 2 semesters. I also completed my CNA certification at that time as well.
In 2017 I entered the Medical Assistant Program. I almost completed the program, but fell ill. I was unable to catch back up. I highly suggest new students stay in touch with Advisors, Professors, and Student Life for advice on how to prevent that. Sometimes there is light at the end of the tunnel, when life happens while going to school.
For 20 years, I have continued to work as a CNA, also holding part time jobs on the side, such as a Housing Resource Specialist for Porchlight Inc in 2014-2016. I have had the pleasure of working a variety of service jobs. Helping others has always been one of my biggest passions.

I was granted an opportunity to start teaching in 2019. While on Maternity Leave, I took a Special Education Teacher Assistant Course and overheard a student talking about the Paralegal Program. A year later, that training course lead me to get licensed as a Day Care Teacher. During that journey a friend suggested I become a Lawyer. I declined, but researched the Paralegal Program at Madison College.

I currently spend my days taking care of my own Special Needs child. I found out from the perspective of a parent, just how much stigma, ignorance, and insensitivity there is surrounding persons with disabilities. I have also seen it as a CNA. I have entered the Paralegal Program this Summer, with those first hand experiences in mind. I feel I have a soul for Advocacy, especially for persons with disabilities, and victims of Domestic Abuse. The Paralegal Program offers so many career options to help me achieve in those areas. One Position once graduating, I am interested in is a Victim Witness Advocate. This will help me provide resources to victims that are often silenced.
