How does the Author of “The Seventh Man” reveal the narrator's fear?

The Seventh Man starts off in third person point of view then changes to first person point of view. By doing this it helps reveals the narrator's fears more because he's speaking directly to you. It helps you better understand his emotions by reading the words he uses and how he tells the story. When the narrator thinks about the wave and what happened he loses focus of what he’s doing and thinks of all the fear he felt. For example, while talking to his father he gets distracted and he “lost consciousness again, sinking into the darkness.” (260) The author tells us even after he has moved he will still not go swimming because of the incident, but he is working on his fears.

This quote fits the story because in the beginning his fear keeps him awake at night and are always there. In the end of the story when he moves he says that he's not scared anymore and that “there was no longer anything for me to fear. Those days were gone.”(430)

This song goes along with revealing the narrator's fear because its talking about getting away from a place that’s bad. When the narrator moved he finally started be overcome his fear. Also it says how were always running from things and the narrator was running from his fears.
