Also shows synthesis skills, transition for honours students - acknowledging the gaps in the field. Followed by;</p></li><li><p>Oral presentation - quizzed on hypothesis literature to show level of understanding </p></li><li><p>Summary of previous research e.g. Masters research - and follow up with an interview to see if the student has an understanding of their own work and demonstrate communication skills. </p></li><li><p>Language barrier or specific skill set - set a specific task to evaluate the skill.</p></li></ul><p>Aids in current challenges associated with AI</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>The candidate should supply two referees</p></li><li><p>Supervisor could check out the referees through google scholar, etc to ensure the referees are credible</p></li><li><p>The supervisor could make a phone call to see if the referee is willing to participate and ask for some written feedback.  </p></li><li><p>Email or teams is also possible. </p></li><li><p>Subheadings such as how is the student with timelines, are they reliable etc</p></li><li><p>Proforma to be used if CSU has one</p></li><li><p>Another suggested approach to was to do a 360 degrees evaluation to see if the candidate's values are aligned to CSU. Make it a safe environment </p></li></ol>]]></description>

Short-list to 2-3 candidates. Make a decision. [Industry funded PhD candidates will be paid - volume of candidates]. Ensure we have a robust ethical process. Enables clear and precise feedback.</p></li></ol><ol start="2"><li><p>Most of the screening is done by this stage and be supportive of the application - candidates known.</p></li><li><p>Write a proposal.</p></li><li><p>IELTS score is essential. I agree my o/sease students saw this as a priority - English is tough.</p></li></ol>]]></description>
