When a researcher chooses quantitative methods, tends to think that reality can be measured objectively using numbers and concrete data that can be verified; on the other hand, in a case study, reality is considered to be more complex and knowledge is obtained by understanding in depth the experiences and the particular context of each situation.

The epistemological stance of the researcher directly influences the choice of quantitative methods, since it determines how he/she views reality and knowledge. To put it more simply, a researcher with a positivist stance, which is a branch of epistemology, will always opt for quantitative methods because his objective is to find objectivity, precise measurement and generalizable results.

On the other hand, approaches such as constructivism or interpretivism tend to prefer qualitative methods, since these are based on less general data and a little more complex to determine because they include more personal factors, although they can sometimes incorporate quantitative elements to complement the understanding. So we could say that the epistemological stance not only decides which methods can be used by a researcher, but also how the results are interpreted and validated.

The epistemological stance affects the role of the researcher and their POV. It also reviews if the data has credibility, authenticity, and trustworthiness. It will influence how the researcher interpret the data and how he will shape the info according to their beliefs but generally, the shape and design depends on the necessities of the research
