After super bowl XLIV, Drew Brees holds up his son in excitement and the feeling of accomplishing his life long goal has been complete. But life hasn't all ways been easy. Drew has a birthmark on his right cheek, kids would make fun of him for at school, but despite the controversy, he thought it made him look unique and when he was given the option to remove it he said no.

Growing up sports and family has been a important roll in his life and epically his brother. They would have a "field" in their little yard in Austin, Texas. Drew grew up in a very sports-minded family. His mother Mina, was a all-state in high school for track, volleyball and basketball. His dad was a basketball player at Texas A&M and that is where they met. Also while being in a sports-minded family him and his brother were super competitive and that would later shape his mind set to reach impossible goals.

Because family was everything to Drew when his parents divorced it was one of the biggest problems he would have to face in his life. But a postive from this is his brother and him would create a stronger bond, knowing they will be for each other till the end. But after all that settled and they went to collage his brother played Baseball at Baylor and led his team to the Collage World Series. The divorce and the Collage World Series really shaped his perspective on things to make him achieve things he would of never dreamed of.

The start of his journey to becoming a quarterback would start here at Westlake High School. First set of two-a-days 150-200 kids showed up and about 40 of them wanted to play quarterback. His odds were low at becoming a quarterback but that didn't stop his determination to becoming one. After the tryouts concluded he was was the starter quarterback for the freshmen B team. His sophomore year he was back during the two-a-days and after coming home he wanted to quit. His mother being a competitive athlete herself told him not to because a time will come for him. He decided to stick with it and his time came. Most of the other QB's left/ were injured so he was next up. He ended up going 10-0 that year. His junior year he was a varsity starter, while being undefeated and going into the 3rd round in the playoffs he tore his ACL.

Quote 1

"This might be something I'll regret for the rest of my life if I don't at least follow through with this year".

pg15

Drew's senior year some schools were showing interest in him. Ones like Purdue and Kentucky and a few Ivy League Schools. Scouts sent by Purdue went to their practices and David White, one of Drews bestfriends in highschool said they were for him. He didn't think much of it because he had his eyes set on a baseball scholarship. But after realizing that wouldn't happen he would want to go the Purdue. After the picking he went to Purdue but as the bottom of the barrel. The scraps from the draft. Instead of getting upset by the disrespect he used it as motivation. So him and the others at the bottom of the barrel said that they are goin to be the Big Ten and take Purdue to the Rosebowl.

Quote 3

"Nobody is giving us a chance. The campus atmosphere was majestic to Drew because of this and he felt at home. Some rules he was introduced to while there is that if you missed a class, late to a meeting or a workout, disrespected authority, you would go to a workout session at 6am or how they would call it 'Throw-up session". But for his football career he would not start their until his sophomore year he played three games, won 2 of them against Rice and Central Florida and lost to USC. Untill his first big game against Notre Dame. Purdue hadent beaten Notre Dame in 25 years and he would be starting that game.

However football games are 60 minutes long, during the last 2 minutes of the game the team was 30-28. They were up but wouldn't soon after. Drew was given a difficult play to carry out by his coach and delivered a interception and Notre Dame gets a field goal making it 30-31. Game wasn't over yet for Drew however. Next play he threw another pass but intercepted again and that was game. Destroyed by his outcome he had to put his mind aside and focus for his next game which they won 56-14.

But while he was there he saw a beautiful girl named Brittany and it was love a first sight. During his 20th birthday he was at a friends house for his party and saw Brittany and he wanted to talk to her. Him partaken in a few adult beverages he went to Brittany and started talking but completely blew it. Later on he started seeing her every where he went for the next 6 months and finally at another friends house he saw Brittany and a couple of her friends walk in and he saw another chance at redemption. This time he offered to drive her back in her car but it was a standard. He took an hour to drive to her apartment which would usually take about 5 minutes but she had fun watching him struggle with her car which seemed to like him more and more. So they eventually started dating and soon followed up with marriage.

Beacause Drew knew he had to keep his job he needed a person to help him along the way. So the coach who told him a new quarterback would be taking his job, Cam Cameron he hired a personal trainer for him during the off season. His name was Tom House. Tom was a former pitching coach in the MLB so him and Drew would be a perfect pair. He gave him physical and mental training exercises to increase his arm strength and precision. He also gave him exercises to increase his ability to see furthermore into something in more detail and to never lose sight of the play.
