         <description><![CDATA[<p>Don't we all have days when our mind is struck by a random question which needs to be answered or will never leave your thought? I happen to go through this often and also when I don't look it up or try to find the answer, these questions pop up randomly in conversations I have with people around me. This padlet's subject is answering those questions and challenging myself to find the best information even though the questions may seem irrelevant or mediocre. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Honestly this is a question I keep asking myself and other people and it's not quite a question of today but still.</p><p>HOW DOES BLUETOOTH WORK???</p><p>Apparently after some minutes of surfing the internet Bluetooth is named after Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson, a Danish king in the 10th century who united warring tribes. The Bluetooth logo is based on the symbols he used for his initials. This is very hard to believe but its also said by the Institute of Physics which sounds very official. The Institute of Physics also says that devices connected in a Bluetooth network communicate with each other using ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio waves. These are electromagnetic waves with frequencies around 2.4 gigahertz (2.4 billion waves per second). These waves are also used in microwaves and GPS systems. </p><p>In simpler terms, I would say that I can connect my phone to speakers or headphones since my phone find through bluetooth the other device's frequencies. </p><p>I'm a Gen Z and it still amazes me how fast technology evolves. </p><p>First question answered.  ✅</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This question is inspired by my cat Kirby. He is an inspiration to me in multiple domains and I love him so, so much.</p><p>HOW DO CATS PURR?</p><p>A new study may finally have the answer. Domestic cats possess “pads” embedded within their vocal cords, which add an extra layer of fatty tissue that allows them to vibrate at low frequencies, scientists report in Current Biology. What’s more, the larynx of these animals doesn’t appear to need any input from the brain to produce such purring.</p><p>Cats don't purr only out of contentment and pleasure. They also purr if they are injured or in pain.</p><p>Also it is very interesting how purring is produced during the entire respiratory cycle (inhaling and exhaling). Other vocalizations such as the “meow” are limited to the expiration of the breath.</p><p>My cat Kirby doesn't purr very often (we thought that him being a little overweight has to do with the fact that he doesn't purr but these facts have nothing to do with one another) but when he does it is a truly joyful experience for everybody in my family.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>HOW DOES SOCIAL MEDIA ALGORITHM WORKS?</p><p>By social media algorithms I mean those recommended posts that appear without you following them or Tiktok's ''for you page'' which shows you random videos that they assume are "for you". How do these things work? Isn't it a little concerning how social media apps assume what you would like to see or what content you would prefer (also it seems that they are seldom mistaken)?</p><p>Well, this kind of feature works by tracking your engagement. That means that they see what posts you like, what posts you comment on, what you share etc. and by that they can recommend similar things. Also they can do that by tracking user interaction, namely, who your audience follows and engages with can influence the content they see. Factors like location, language preference, and device type also play a (less important) role.</p><p>It's scary to know that these apps know so many things about you, but at the end of the day we choose to use them, so use them with caution!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The next question is: HOW DO DIAMOND TESTERS WORK?</p><p>Now this is really random, but I like watching Pawn Stars on History Channel from time to time and a lot of people bring diamonds that need to be tested whether they are real or not.</p><p>In this process of testing a small machine is used. These testers work by checking the material's thermal conductivity. Diamonds have very high thermal conductivity, meaning they conduct heat exceptionally well. Diamond testers typically consist of a metal probe (usually made of another heat-conductive material) attached to the testing device. The user places the metal probe against the gemstone's surface. This is usually done on a facet or a flat part of the stone. If the gemstone is a diamond, it will quickly conduct the heat away, and the tester will indicate that the stone is likely genuine.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>WHY DO CHAMELEONS CHANGE THEIR COLOR?</p><p>Chameleons change color for different reasons. One reason is to control their body temperature. If they want to warm up, they might become darker to absorb more heat, and if they want to cool down, they might become lighter to reflect sunlight. Chameleons also use color changes to communicate. Bright colors might show they're excited or ready to mate, while dull colors might mean they're feeling stressed or submissive. They can also change color to blend in with their surroundings a bit, helping them hide from predators or sneak up on prey. When interacting with other chameleons, they might change color to show dominance, signal that they're looking for a mate, or indicate that they're not a threat. Chameleons have special cells in their skin that contain pigments, and these cells can expand or contract, changing the color we see. So, when you see a chameleon changing color, it's like a natural way for them to express themselves and adapt to what's going on around them!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DISSHES ''CIORBA'' AND ''SUPA''?</p><p>In Romanian cuisine, "ciorbă" and "supă" refer to two types of dishes. "Ciorbă" is often denser, more acidic, and includes  solid ingredients like vegetables and meat. It may be served with sour cream. "Supă" is generally a clearer and less dense liquid containing ingredients like vegetables or meat, often served as an introduction to a meal or as a main course. While these terms have traditional differences, they can sometimes be used interchangeably based on individual preferences.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>HOW DO MRI MACHINES WORK?</p><p>MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) works by aligning hydrogen atoms in the body's water molecules with a strong magnetic field. A brief radiofrequency pulse disrupts this alignment, and as the hydrogen atoms return to their aligned state, they release signals. Detectors in the MRI machine capture these signals, which a computer processes to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body's internal structures, especially soft tissues. The varying signal intensities provide contrast in the images, aiding in medical diagnosis without using ionizing radiation.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>WHAT CAUSES AIRPLANE URBULENCE?</p><p><br>Airplane turbulence happens because of different things:</p><p><strong>Clear Air Turbulence (CAT):</strong> Turbulence in clear air, usually linked to the high-altitude jet stream.</p><p><strong>Mountain Waves:</strong> When wind hits mountains, it makes waves in the air, causing turbulence.</p><p><strong>Convective Turbulence:</strong> Turbulence caused by rising warm air.</p><p><strong>Wake Turbulence:</strong> Big airplanes create swirls of air that can shake smaller planes flying behind them.</p><p><strong>Thunderstorms:</strong> Storms with up and down air movements create bumpy rides.</p><p><strong>Frontal Boundaries:</strong> When different air masses meet, it can get turbulent.</p><p><strong>Jet Streams:</strong> High, fast air currents at high altitudes can cause turbulence.</p><p><strong>Terrain-Induced Turbulence:</strong> Flying over bumpy landscapes, like mountains, can cause turbulence.</p><p>Pilots use forecasts and tools to avoid turbulence and keep passengers safe.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>HOW DOES YEAST WORK?</p><p><br>Yeast is like a tiny living thing that helps make bread and beer bubbly. When you mix it with a bit of sugar, it wakes up and starts eating the sugar. As it eats, it makes bubbles of carbon dioxide. In baking, these bubbles make the dough rise and become fluffy. In brewing, yeast gives beer its fizzy and flavorful kick. It likes warmer places, and the more time it has, the better it works. So, yeast is a key player in creating the texture and taste we love in bread and beer!</p>]]></description>
