The untitled stories do connect the story of "Hands in his pocket." The first one is about the importance of school and the questioning of it. The second one is about racism and a boy not being able to be served. Both of these stories connect because the second one embodies the sense of being out of control of how others treat you like in this story how as a joke they have the boy go into bed with the dead man. The first one connects because the boy is there to go to school and will do anything to get this opportunity.

This story makes me think about all of the children who are pinned against the wall from their environment leaving them hopeless. It is so sad that in this story the child had to be a part of covering a murder up. Digging the grave and then wearing the dead mans ring. Pressured to withhold this tragedy.

This story works very well with the rest of the book because it further demonstrate the powerless tragedies that are lived by migrant workers. How they feel like this boy just subjected to trauma and hoping one day to be happy.
