This is one of my all time favorite picture books, Ludwig Bemelmans tells the story of a little girl named Madeline. Madeline, is a 7-year-old girl who attends a boarding school in Paris with eleven other girls, under the care of their teacher, Miss Clavel. One night Madeline wakes up in such a pain she wakes all her friends. She is rushed to the hospital where she has to have her appendix removed. All the other girls are jealous and want a scare just like Madeline. I would recommend this book for kindergarten to first or second grade.
