The book is called Boots on the ground By Elizabeth Partridge. I chose this book because I don't know a lot about vietnam and it seems interesting. The story is focused on The vietnam war and all the important people and things that happened during the war.

There was only one real main event and that was The assanation of J.F.K which made America scared for our safety and what was going to happen in the war.

A important person was David Oshiro was a green beret in vietnam and grew up in a small town. He was put into the 5th special force (airborn).

Another important person was Hoa thi Nguyen was a refugee during the vietnam war. him and his family were trying to run from the communists that were taking over their city. He eventually had to go to America to get away from the communists.

The setting

between 1968-1982 was a little before the war fully started and a little after it ended. Lots of families from America and Vietnam were grieving over all the lost lives throughout the war. The main action happened all through out vietnam when American soldiers would push further but then get pushed back again and it would go back and fourth. The place where the war happened impacted the United States because they were not on home turf and Vietnamese would make boobie traps like bamboo spikes covered with feces in the ground and soldiers would fall in there and have a super painful death.

Authors purpose

There was not really a message but she was just showing us all the important people and telling us what happened in detail to them and what they did. She showed it by getting into deep detail about everyone. I think the author possibly had someone in their family go into the vietnam war and not come back and wanted to learn more about why they didn't come back and what awful technics vietnam used against America.

The author used pathos by showing us the people she got her resources from and all of the details we might not have thought to put in. The author used pathos by showing us important people that died like JFK and how horrible the things Vietnam used to kill soldiers. The author used Logos by giving us the reasons of the war and what we should have done differently.

we gotta get out of this place by the animals. It connects to this book because lots of soldiers wanted to get out of there. It also connects because it talks about how they want to get out before they die and people in vietnam were in a war and might die.
