Ban of No-arms-sale for Neutrality

FDR changed the ban of no-arms-sale during neutrality because Britain was struggling after a major loss of arms and other weapons. America decided to help by allowing arms sale while still being neutral. They could sell arms to other countries, because they sold them - not gave them - but Britain mainly gained in this ban. Isolationists thought that it made America no longer neutral, so they made it a 'cash-and-carry' basis only. Still, Britain was helped even more by a loop-hole which allowed Britain to trade islands for weapons; this helped America by allowing them to gain more land for bases. All of these changes were due to the great loss of British arms because of Germany.

This act allowed America to lend or lease weapons to any country "vital to the defense of the United States. As long as Britain paid America back the Act allowed America to send weapons to Britain.
