I used think that leatherback turtles ate seaweed and other underwater plants, and that they had claws. I also thought that they were extremely tiny species of turtle that had an exceptionally hard shell. I thought that they were the most common species.

Now, I know that leatherback turtles don't have claws and they eat things like jellyfish, octopus and squid, also they hang around coral reefs because their food is commonly found there and they don't have a shell, only a bony plating and a leathery, rubber-like carapace to protect themselves. They are also the largest species of turtle. They can weigh up to about half a ton and are an endangered species. (Unfortunately) They are also very rare.

I used to think that leather back turtles are very slow just like other turtles. But know I know that leather back turtles can dive to depths deeper than 1,200m and swim at speed of 9.8m/s.I used to think leather back turtles existed in around the year of 2000. But now I know that leather back turtles existed when dinosours were around!I used to think that leather back turtles were quite small. But now I know that leather back turtles can grow as tall as a man/6 feet tall!I used to think that turtles eat plants like seaweed under the sea. But now I know that they eat jellyfish, octopus and squid.

I used to think that leatherback turtles were known for their leathery backs I also used to think that leatheback turtles were like other turtles, small! However a leatherback turtle can weigh about 916 kg! As an adult. I also thought that leatherback turtles were allowed to swim peacfully I also thought that baby leatherback turtles spend at least 3 months with their parents before getting released. But now I know that leatherback turtles are called leatherback turtles because of their rubbery skin and it turns out that leatherback turtles are endangered! They cannot swim peacfully. Something interesting as well is that baby leatherback turtle eggs are laid on the beach and if they hatch and waddle to the sea in time without getting eaten by predators, they have to start living their live the moment the touch the water.
