Before the advent of containers, single ships could be overloaded with hundreds of thousands of different items — bananas, fish meal, steel pipes — all jammed into various bags and crates. Malcolm Mclean didn't have any experience with the shipping process. So he thought if he loaded his trucks aboard a ship in New York and sailed them all the way down the coast to North Carolina? McLean abandoned his plan to load full trucks onto boats and proceeded to make the box detachable.

The age of containers had arrived, and it had drastically cut transportation costs. A global distribution system based on standardized boxes that could be transported easily from ships to trains to trucks arose.

This piece of research talks about big metal boxes, which help ship cotton to places. Although it seems simple, it was the best innovation for shipping/ trading cotton.

This connects to the research question because it wrote about what people use (innovation) to grow cotton. It also wrote about how cotton can contribute to climate change. For example, water, soil, and air pollution.

This relates to the research question because child labor is an innovation (it is a bad innovation)  to grow cotton, and they give multiple reasons why growing cotton can cause climate change.
