For this lesson I learnt how to make Ondeh-ondeh. The indgridients needed are flour, pandan flavouring, pandan scent, water and Gula Melaka. The most difficult step is cutting the gula Melaka and mixing the flour. Cutting the Gula Melaka was hard because when I tried to cut it , I was instead shaving it!:-) Mixing the flour and water and pandan flavouring and pandan scent as you have to use all your might to stir it and sometimes you have to add more flour or water as the dough is to soft or dry. After this lesson, I have learnt how to make ondeh-ondeh and bonded really well with my partner and friends. When I went home that day, I let my family try it and they said it was good for a beginner like me!

After attending this practical class, i learnt how to make Ondeh-ondeh. The ingredients needed to make the Ondeh-ondeh are flour, pandan flavouring, water and Gula Melaka. The most difficult part was when i had to mix the pandan juice with the flour. I had to make sure that the dough was not too watery and not too dry and hard. After much adjustment, I finally could form a nice dough. My weaknesses are that i do not have self confidence when doing the ondeh-ondeh.

From the lesson conducted by my teachers, I have learnt how to make a dessert called Ondeh-ondeh. In this lesson I have learnt that mixing the flour with the food colouring and the pandan artificial flavouring is the most important and crucial pavrt of the process of making the dish. this will determine whether your Ondeh -ondeh will turn out moist or dry. The problem that I faced was that i was afraid that I might hurt myself when preparing this dish, like the time when we had to cut the gula melaka into smaller pieces and when placing the Ondeh-ondeh in boiling water. this then took up much of our time and we nearly did not complete our task in time.

For this fce lesson,I learnt how to make odeh odeh.I learnt how to mix the flour and pandan juice well,i had to spend alot of time on this step as the mixture got harder to stir after stirring for some time,my patience was put to a test because of this....
Another obstacle that i ran into was that i was afraid of scalding my hand when i put the odeh odeh into the water, because of this,I sort of threw it into the boiling water, causing the odeh odeh to go out of shape.I learnt my lesson after that and started putting it carefully and slowly into the water.I overcame my fear of boiling water on that day!
From this lesson,i also learnt how to on the stove and adjust the temperature of the fire....i learnt that patience and self confidence actually plays an important part in cooking that day.
Thinking back,i actually spent quite some time on the stirring of mixture, causing me to have insufficient time to do the plating ,wash the dishes and causing me to panic as i did not have a partner ,become careless as well as clumsy and to get scolded by the teacher....
If given another chance to do it again,i will have better time management and be more clam and steady.Overall,i am actually glad of my odeh odeh as this was my first attempt on cooking.😋

for the this FCE lesson, the teachers taught me how to make the traditional malay dessert known as Ondeh-Ondeh. Through this i learnt how to use kitchen utensils and equipment properly e.g the weighing scale and the kitchen stove. I also learnt how to make batter which is useful in making or cooking almost anything. I also now know how crucial everything it is o be a baker or chef because if you get one thing wrong or make even one mistake, the whole dish could be destroyed. Another important tool in life that i learned from this fce lesson was how to clean and wash dishes quickly and efficiently. I also now know how important everything i do is in the process of making the dish. For example, if i put too much flour in the batter, it will become dry and i would not turn out nice. If i put too much food colouring or artificial flavouring in the mixture, it would turn out too sweet. I'm glad that I know now what it is like to be the chef or baker under pressure which is in this case time. Now that I know how it is for my mother when she is cooking or baking, i won't put pressure on her and I will be patient.

for this fce lesson , i learnt how to make ondeh ondeh . The instructions were clear and i managed to follow through all the steps properly . A few things i learnt are , handling the dough with clean and dry hand in order not to contaminate the food. i also learnt how to handle the gas stove properly and how to make the dough for the ondeh ondeh. Firstly , mix in floor and water with green food colouring and artificial pandan flavouring . In order not to have any lumps in the dough , my partner and i must mix the dough thoroughly .Then , take a small amount of the dough and put some brown sugar ( gula melaka ) inside and roll into a ball . Afterwards , put the ball inyo the boiling water . After the balls rise to the top , it is done , then roll the balls in the coconut shavings . After plating the ondeh ondeh , my partner and i washed up the plates , utensils and pot . Looking back on this lesson , i realised that i should have put more brown sugar as it was not as sweet as i wanted it to be .

From this FCE lesson, I have learnt how to make Ondeh-Ondeh. For the dough, we had to put in the right amount of glutinous rice flour and the water which contains both the green food colouring and artificial pandan flavour. If not it would be too dry or too wet. After I made the dough with the gula melaka inside, I placed them into the pot of boiling water. Time was running out, so I quickly scooped them out. Some of them had split open and the gula melaka leaked out. Some were out of shape and too hard or soft as they were not fully cooked. When I ate my first piece, the gula melaka had not fully melted, it was still a small hard piece and the dough was hard. This also happened to some of the other pieces as they were a it under-cooked. I felt that I did not have enough time to boil it was because I took quite a long time to make the dough. It was the hardest part. I should also not rush as I will make mistakes, but I would have to speed up still. Although what I did was not that of a success, I am still glad as it is my first attempt cooking.

From this practical, i learnt how to make ondeh ondeh. When making the dough there must not be any bubbles. The dough must be a thin batter and not have a watery shape. We also need to mix it properly so it does not have any lumps in it. We need 1 or 2 drops of artifical pandan flavoring and 1 or 2 drops of green food coloring and mix it with water and add it woth the glutinous rice flour and mix it untill it becomes a dough. After that we need to make it flat and place gula melaka in it and then roll it in a ball. Then we placed it in boiling water and let it cook until it floats and then scoop it up and place it in a plate. It took us the whole lesson to finish cooking the ondeh ondeh.

It was slightly hard to make the dough as there shouldn't be bubbles and it must be a thin batter and not be watery. We had to mix it properly so there were not any lumps. We added a bit too much of artificial panda flavouring and therefore it tasted slightly bad. It was hard to cut the gula me lama so the pieces were slightly big.

From this practical i learnt how to make ondeh ondeh .It was fun but at the same time I found it quite challenging. Making the dough cannot have any air bubbles,we also need 2 drops of food flavoring and 2 drops of food coloring. Making this is not easy.First you will need to make some small brown sugar cubes and put them into the dough and make it circular in shape. And lastly you need to put them in water to boil until they are floating.I did a horrible job the first time but i will do it better next time. :)
