when recognized, many would say jaehyun's claim to game is being a former president's grandson. jaehyun was three when he first appeared in his grandfather's campaigns. one of his most famous pictures is him, aged four, hiding underneath his grandfather's desk, similar to jfk jr.'s iconic white house photos. he was noted for being cute, but mischievous, something that would never disappear.

during his college years, he was part of an investigative team that reported on a major bullying and coverup scandal. the team had their fifteen minutes of fame. some of the critics and haters claimed the story only got traction because of jaehyun's grandfather. however, it was that report that laid the essential steps for jaehyun's journalist career and slowly inspired him to break from his family's expectations.

2014: intern at yonhap news for the year. occasionally would write on the newspaper's site, which his grandfather's supporters would eat up.

2015-2016: military. his parents would try to pull a few strings for him, but he enlisted in the army like many his age.

2017-2018: initially intern at kbs news for the summer, but extends his time there to work on a story with his team there.

his teams covers a major scandal at a prestigious high school in gangnam involving bullying, coverups, and bribes. this becomes his breakout story, thrust back into the spotlight once more.

through this story, he discovers his passion for investigative journalism and his skill in interviewing. the latter especially becomes essential for him and his career at elle.

2020: interns at the prosecutor's office, but occasionally continues to write some articles for a few newspapers as a guest commentator.

2021: intern for judge choi hoshik in the first half of the year. however, in the second half of the year, he interns at bbc's korea headquarters.

2022: starts his journalism career, surprising everyone with the sudden shift.

overall: ooc is faster than ic. not a preference, it's easier for me to respond to something ooc.

however, jaehyun always had to do things differently.

mischievous, but charming was how people first described the little boy when he appeared in the media. how could anyone get mad at the little boy that enjoyed laughing his ways through the blue house's halls and play endearing pranks on world leaders? most thought he would grow out of his devious streak, which he did to a certain extent. or so everyone thought.

he followed their plan to a certain extent. he didn't make it to seoul national like they wanted him to, but he studied at korea uni and yonsei for his undergraduate and law school years. he took up political science, like he was advised. however, it was in college he dabbled in journalism, continuing from his news broadcasting and school newspaper days in high school. he was bitten by the bug, but couldn't shake it off completely.

he did so, but in his final year of law school he finally had enough. he knew that he wasn't sure to take on his family's path for him when something else seemed to be calling for him, journalism. yet, he himself wasn't sure if he was ready to take the plunge. he had been out of the field for some time, but he knew there was a path for him, somewhere.

he knew his fluctuating popularity and family connections would help, dropping his resume at various newspapers and magazine companies. whatever he could get. realizing though he wanted a somewhat fresh start, he decided to take a position at a news station in lunar city.

jaehyun hates oat milk. he hated it before he met muse a and now he abhors it since she came and left his life.

as much as he hates to say it, jaehyun experienced colpo di fulmine or a strike of lightning when he first encountered muse a. he thought there was no beginning, middle, or end with her. despite his own stumbling and fumbling from nerves that never ended around her, he somehow conjured up a friendship with her. he found himself in a situation where for once if someone asked him to jump, he would ask how high. his mind was consumed by her, something he loved and hated. heck, he drank matcha oat milk lattes for her and he detested them. at some point, he found himself ordering them and stopped tasting the oddly thick textured "milk" entirely around her.

what didn't help was that there was a push and pull from her. she treated him in a way that belonged nowhere, too intimate and gentle for acquaintances, too fleeting for love. it was the little touches, her grabbing his hand during a conversation and picking nonexistent specks from his hair. the talks they had were deep and intense, especially for the short time they knew each other.

despite the mixed signals, he stayed. with her, he existed without history, expectations, or reputation. just a man who drank a drink he hated with a friend that teetered into dangerous territory.

yet, perhaps karma did strike for his past relationships when he found out about muse a's partner, who she never seemed to talk about. once he heard the news from someone else, suddenly messages turned into silence. months later, he sometimes finds himself close to ordering matcha with oat milk.

muse a and jaehyun did everything that a couple would do, even loving each other, but without the titles and commitment that came with it. he practically lived at her place during law school, relying on muse a caring for him like a dedicated wife. yet, he never gave in to a relationship, despite her wants. he said that now wasn't the right time, he didn't have time for one. maybe later, he said. when he had his life settled. when his career was stable. maybe he would consider it.

maybe he was scared that she would become like everyone else, disappear once she got what wanted from him. once she realized that he wasn't worth staying for.

eventually though, muse a stopped waiting. there would never be a time for them. to make matters worse, they couldn’t even call it a breakup or each other exes because they weren’t even a couple. despite things ending, jaehyun still can’t get over her. maybe the same could be said for her.

it's been a long night for muse a, who's hanging out on a rooftop bar to clear their head with a bottle of cheap tequila. the wheels are spinning in their head and it's loud.

jaehyun is in one his moments again and on the edge, but runs into muse a when escapes from a party with a spicy hot italian sandwich on hand. a foot long layered with salami, pepperoni, bacon, and capicola fried to perfection, set on a cold bed of shredded iceburg lettuce, thinly seasoned tomatoes, sliced pepperoncinis, olives, and slivered onions.

before he could leave, muse a offers him a drink. on any other night, he would've turned it down. however, a drink would complement his beautiful sandwich, and maybe he just needs a break too.

it’s 12:05 am on saturday night and the laundromat is flooding with soap bubbles. how one might ask?

well jaehyun and muse a can’t give you a straight answer because it was definitely the other one’s fault. was it jaehyun attempting to wash his fancy blankets for the first time alone? was it muse a, who used the same machine right after to wash an obscene amount of jeans? jaehyun might add, what weirdo uses the same washing machine right after as someone else when there are fourteen other machines available?

who knows at this rate, but the two are scrambling as the shop is about to flood in a sea of white and pink bubbles. by the way, who the hell started the pink bubble situation???

jaehyun never met muse a before. depending on what day you ask him, could be a good thing or a terrible one. perhaps, it's for the best. their codename is damon, and that is the most official information he has.

ridden with guilt, needing someone to confess to after year of meddling in and witnessing the worst kinds of crimes, muse a begins leaving packages for him. after all, he is a journalist with some influence behind him. not too many could touch a former president's grandson. if anyone could release the truth into the world, it was him.

jaehyun has never heard their voice or seen their face. he still doesn't know what role they truly play in his story, but he can't help in finding some familiarity in them. he knows that their handwriting is neat and they have a penchant for blue, from the blue ink written notes and blue usbs carefully tucked into envelopes.

sometimes in the notes he sends back through their drop-offs, he reminds them they don't owe him anything. their safety comes first. always.

maybe a closeness has grown between them. maybe jaehyun's gotten too attached to his cases again or maybe this stopped being just a case a long time ago.

hell, he's pissed off anyone and everybody, public and private sector. the shadiest of shady, the "untouchables", even the "good" ones with too many skeletons to hide. the people he's investigating now? that's enough reasons alone. don't even get him started on his family's enemies. even his sweet old grandpa has some crazed haters from his days as a president. there's been a few protests, hell even a coup after his administration days and he still gets a bloody letter or two for the holidays.
