Today I saw how children learn at Guadeloupe’s school. I’ve met friendly teachers and learned how they help the inhabitants of neighboring islands, for example, after a tsunami. I was surprised that there were only two white children in the whole school. I did my first task in French and I’m very happy, that I got smile-stamp. Children around the world are the same - sometimes they are urgent, sometimes funny, sociable, need our help more than others, sometimes they are also naughty. After lunch, we had another French lesson and I think French is going to be more and more difficult. We also discussed the topic "What is international learning?" and we touched on “Global Citizenship Themes, skill and outlooks”, which I want to look at closely in the evening as a self-study. It was another cool day, like everyday here in Guadeloupe:)

Session 4 - Michael
Another day, full of impressions and lots of things to think about.
-	The descendants of slaves teaching their children the language and the grammar of the former slave holders. Lesson: Live in the present but be aware of the past.
-	Primary school children sing and play the music of Guadeloupe as well as “Another day in paradise” to welcome us. Lesson: Music helps you to identify locally as well as globally. (Do they know that this is a song about social outsiders in Britain?)
-	About 160 pupils, about two or three of them white. Lesson: To experience sometimes the exact opposite of what you are used to should be compulsory and part of any curriculum.
-	The range of numbers up to 100 taught with good old slates. Lesson: Tablets are wonderful but no pedagogical revolution.
-	Adult teachers play hopscotch. Lesson: Sometimes we should be a bit more like children.

Cinzia
Today we went to a primary school.
We were welcomed by a group of older pupils playing and singing some very famous and “global” songs such us “Another Day in Paradise” and “When The Saints Go Marching In” together with some other local ones.
Despite the distance, I aknowledged many similarities between the Italian system of education and the French (oversea territory) one: special music courses, inclusion of special needs pupils. In particular those pupils playing the keybord, the flute and the guitar reminded me (with other colors) the music course pupils in my school.
I also received a “Smile” on my French grammar exercise. We took part in a French lesson with the headmaster. I can definitely say that pupils behave the same everywhere: some of them are collaborative and prepared to answer the teacher’s questions, some others are quite vivacious, always chatting, smiling, funny. One of the 2good" girls helped us to solve the grammar quiz. One of the "naughty" boys offered me a book to put under the piece of paper where I was writing and gave me a paper decoration.
What a wonderful job is teaching children!!!
“…it's just another day for you and me in paradise…”

The very warm welcome with music by the students at the primary school we went today was a big surprise for me. It was wonderful to join the study community of this school. The intensive care of the students in the classes was impressive, as well as the openness with which the children and the teachers met us. A model for the design of the international community.

The school visit today was a really special experience. We felt so welcomed by the headmaster, the teachers and the students. Everbody talked to us and was interested in where we were coming from. People in Guadeloupe are really open minded and act without fear of the unknown, as people in Germany often do.
The music with which the students welcomed us made us once again feel connected to each other.
