Aspirin was originally made boiling the bark of a white willow tree. Although the salicin in the white willow bark has relieving pain properties, purified salicylic acid was bitter and irritating when taken orally. Salicylic acid was neutralized with sodium to make sodium salicylate, which tasted better but still irritated the stomach. Salicylic acid could be changed to produce phenylsalicylate, which has better tasting and less irritating, but released the toxic substance phenol when metabolized. Felix Hoffman and Arthur Eichengrün were the first to synthesize the most important ingredient in aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, in 1893.

Aspirin is used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain from conditions such as muscle aches, toothaches, common cold, and headaches. It can also be used to help reduce pain and swelling in conditions like arthritis. Aspirin is known as a salicylate and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking a certain natural substance in your body to reduce pain and swelling. In cases, a doctor may send you a low dose of aspirin to prevent blood clots. This effect reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

The prototypical analegis used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It has anti - inflammatory in it. Aspirin also inhibits platelet aggregation and is used in the prevention of arterial and venous thrombosis. By providing an easy and inexpensive method to alleviate pain, aspirin began to change the experience and expectations of patients and doctors and ultimately the nature of modern medicine.

Aspirin was one of the first drugs to be commonly used. Aspirin is a drug that is researched many times, about 700 to 1000 clinical trials are conducted on this drug every year. Aspirin came from willow which was used in the ancient times as a medicine. A Willow is a plant that lives in temperate climates, and has narrow leaves. The Willow would be used to relieve aches and pains. This medicine was then later renamed Aspirin by a guy named Bayer. Another name for Aspirin is Acetylsalicylic acid. Aspirin was such a good pain reliever drug that it entered the Guinness World Records. Aspirin is also the most frequently sold painkiller.
