At the beginning of each year, we have a Summer Bridge for all new staff to our county(this includes new teachers). We use one day for technology and Digital Learning. I will add some of these tools to the list to present to these teachers to give them a platform to start with. Knowing which digital tools are more appropriate for each lesson is a major goal for trial and error.

As an Instructional Support Coach, my goal is to provide my teachers with PD on how to use digital tools to personalize and support their instruction. I did some exploring of the Ditch that Textbook site and found several useful resources that I will use in my PD. Specifically, I would like for my teachers to try using Jamboard to encourage their virtual and face-to-face students to collaborate on projects, assignments, etc. Two takeaways that I got from this session are: "Start with the task, not the tool." and "It's not about the hunt for the latest and greatest tools with the most flash."

In my first grade classroom I will keep in mind the components of the TPACK method while lesson planning. I will remember, that when using technology, I will start with the task at hand. We also did a whole training as a school using the Ditch that Textbook Program. I highly recommend it. Using a jamboard for teachers to share technology tools would be a great way to share fun and effective resources for students.

Main Take-Aways:
*Start with the TASK and not the TOOL.
*Goal of Technology: Enhance learning

Resources I want to use with students:
*Backchannel Chat: I've used this before in PD and during professional conference meetings & love it! For mulitaskers & people who like communicating best through writing, this is the bomb! While your mind is listening, it's also process and creating! Highly engaging!!
*I've never used Edpuzzle or Commonlit.org (library-- wow!) so I want to explore those resources. Edpuzzle would be great for virtual lessons because the video can be stopped & reflection done throughout the video as we would do in class to make sure students are understanding.
*I want to encorporate TedEd videos and lessons into my AIG lessons. I especially love the idea of the comment section engaging students all around the world to promote a broader world view for my students. Lessons are in the Watch*Think*DigDeeper format.

In my teaching I have used Quizizz, Gimkit, EdPuzzle, CommonLit, Padlet, Jamboard, FlipGrid, Quizlet, Google Docs/Slides, Canva, Canvas, ZipGrade, ClassTools, and several others. Some of these I love and use weekly, but sometimes I think that I am overwhelmed by the amount of technology I am encouraged to try by well-meaning colleagues and administration. One takeaway I got from this section is to focus on how the tool will support the lesson, as opposed to how to implement a tool just for the sake of it.

I have been familiar with the TPACK model for at least 7 or 8 years now and it keeps getting more advanced and more effective to use in the classroom. Technology continues to change and one of my goals is to continue to use modern technology in the classroom. I want to continue to use technology that students continued to be interested in and helps with differentiated instruction.

As a virtual teacher I learned that I can use FlipGrid as sort of an exit ticket. Having students tell me about their learning and answer questions in real time. After completing the Ditch That Textbook training I learned a lot about technology. I was able to implement a lot of technology pieces in my lesson. This training has taught me the Appropriate ways to use those digital tools.

TPACK was my main take away from this. Keeping these in mind can help plan appropriate lessons for my virtual and face to face students. I think it is important to balance the use of technology as well. There is a such thing as too much technology. However, equipping students with the skills to manage and use technology is great! Seesaw has been a huge help this year with just teaching my students how to use the digital tools.

I LOVE the emphasis on APPROPRIATE!!! I use many UDL principles, and backwards plan from outcome to "how". This year, I have implemented a lot more of that, and I will continue to do so going forward.

Digital Content & Instruction
I have used the gallery walk when my students did projects and put them on the wall where other students walk around the room to view there classmates work. I have used Newsela, Common lit, and Ted Talk. I teach English to students who reading comprehension skills are weak. I use Newsela and Common lit because it has read aloud where the students can understand the concept of the text and article. My students enjoy using technology to complete assignments. I plan to implement variety of digital tools in my classroom such as Digital Gallery Walk, Ditch That Textbook and EdPuzzle.
