no but it should have a age limit, if your kids are 1-12 then i do not think they should have access to social media or have a mobile device as it can be distracting towards their academics and they might watch things that they are not supposed to be watching. they also might learn some inappropriate or harmful things

This is because I feel that even if we implement into our law that teens should not access social media as well as creating a firewall to enforce it, there is the problem that it simply be bypassed. For example, a teenager could simply search up on Google simple ways to circumvent the ban like using a VPN.

Another reason is that this requires the government to keep the teenager's information, which may be leaked and put may teens in danger when handled carelessly.

i agree that social media should be banned for teenagers, because social media can be addicting and can become a distraction to their academic reducing focus and productivity in schoolwork. social media can also disturb your sleep leading to sleep disturbtion which can affect ur mental health

no i disagree, however i do believe that teenagers should have a time limit on apps like tik tok.

1) Choose one of your classmate's posts and read it.

2) Write down their name at the top of your post in this format "Rebutting (classmate's name". You may not choose a classmate that someone else is already responding to, and you may not respond to yourself.

3) Write your post to rebut your classmate's point about whether social media should be banned. It should address one of the points that your classmate has raised in their response. You should write in complete sentences and use what you have learnt about writing rebuttals in the previous lesson. After rebutting your classmate, make sure to rebut your rebuttal!

However, I believe that this ignores how much a variable the parent, the one proposed to monitor the children. This is because that the point where the parents 'step in' can be subjective, and up to the full discretion of the parents. For example, if the parents felt, in their own view, their children is distant even though in reality, they simply are allocating family time for newfound friend connections or using their mobile devices for studying, they could use this as justification to heavily restrict their children's screen time.

I feel as if social media being banned for teenagers for being addicting and distracting is a bit extreme for the reason of reducing focus and productivity in school. I think that social media should be limited for teenagers instead of being fully banned as banning social media entirely would cause teenagers to become bored and not do anything productive anyway.

Some people may argue that teenagers are exposed to a large amount of negative content, which can lead to damage to the teenager's mood and even escalate to suicide.

However, this is too extreme of a reaction as it undermines the fact that this does not develop teenager's attitudes in scouring the internet in a increasingly digitalized world. Thereby, it would be preferable if instead programmes would be implemented to teach teenagers in proper internet etiquette and solutions should they encounter problems on the internet.

rebutting leyton.yes some my agree that social media shouldn't be banned but whats the point of having a time limit if thw way that social media harms teenagers is by teenagers coming across them. so yes there should be a time limit but no matter how long u put a time limit as long as the user is on social media they will come across it sooner or later.

Some may argue that some social media platforms shouldn't be accessible like reddit and twitter, as teens can search up stuff they aren't meant to search up which some people are underage and not meant to view this type of content. However, most people on these platform still post sensible content on the website.
