Peruvian independence day is one of the more popular holidays. Its their independence they celebrate it on July 28th so 2 days after we would normally celebrate, they also celebrate at dawn and a cannon salute begins flag-raising ceremonies as Peru remembers the anniversary of its independence. Another one of the larger celebrations in Peru is fiesta de la candelaria celebrated on the shores of Lake Titicaca, brings visitors from all over the world excited to appreciate the indigenous and colonial traditions in the form of choreography and dance. With a duration of two weeks.

One of the holiday traditions in Peru is kind of similar to what we do here like the traditional Peruvian Christmas meal includes turkey, tamales, salads, applesauce, and a sweet bread called Panettone. Before or after the meal Gifts are exchanged and the family members usually hug, kiss, and thank the gift-giver before opening their present. Which is mostly common in America some people say thank you after some say thank you before. The traditional meal is also similar to ours.
