I love the peek a boo example- also love when the Dad was labeling himself as Dad and then stated the babies name. But when the Dad was distracted by the iPad and the baby became upset and frustrated….yikes! That was so real!

Having spent some time yesterday with my one year old grand niece… I can resonate with this little experiment. My niece and her husband are very mindful of keeping connected with the baby and it shows! A screen free baby who loves people and sitting and looking at her books and listening to the adults talk and read to her! She is such a happy baby, good temperament!

What stood out to me on the “serve and return” concept the most was seeing how much the child is affected when their bid for connection is not returned. Parents who get distracted by their tasks are into that moment. If they see what they are missing more often, or what it’s like for their child, maybe it will motivate them to be more present.
