Represents Catherine's imagination and her love of mystery. It also symbolizes her growth: what she expects to be a terrifying place full of secrets isn't really that. Upon discovering this, she matures and stops idealizing the world as she does in her novels.

2. Gothic Novels

They function as a symbol of Catherine's naiveté and fantasies. At first, they strongly influence her way of seeing the world, but she later learns not to take them so literally.

3. The Ball

It represents social relationships and the beginning of bonds (friendship or romance). It is the setting for several key encounters and reflects the importance of society and appearances at that time.

The Abbey: Because Henry lives there and Catherine wanted visit it. Finally Catherine visit the Abbey and she loves it.

Books: Because Catherine read books about love, horror and mistery. So, Catherine imagine bad things of Mr Tilney.
