In 1962, Cuba began the economic sanction/embargo. President John F. Kennedy proclaimed an embargo on trade between the United States. This was in response to certain actions taken by the Cuban Government.

The effect this had raised the cost of medical supplies and food rationing, universal access to primary health services, a highly educated population, and preferential access to scarce goods for women and children help protect most Cubans from what otherwise might have been a health disaster. So this ultimately helped them a ton.

Syria

In august 2011 in response to Syria's violence and repression the Us put a embargo on anything from Syria. Because of the embargo and sanctions it made it difficult to get goods.

Korea

The embargo/sanction in North Korea began in 2006. It was in response to the DPRK nuclear test. It had a negative impact on the population in North Korea, their food situation is worsening.

Iran

The united states have had restrictions and embargo's on Iran since 1979. The embargoes are in place because Iran has repeated human rights issues and because of its anti western ideology. The embargoes has made it so Iran cannot finance its nuclear program.

Ukraine, Crimea

On 19 December 2014, US president Obama imposed sanctions on Russian-occupied Crimea by executive order prohibiting exports of US goods and services to the region. This became more relevant when the Russian Federation and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, some governments and international organisations, led by the United States and European Union, imposed sanctions on Russian individuals and businesses.

The effects prohibit the sale, supply, transfer, or export of goods and technology in several sectors, including services directly related to tourism and infrastructure. They list seven ports where cruise ships cannot dock. Sanctions against Crimean individuals include travel bans and asset freezes.
