From my younger self to my present self

1. Are we studying our dream carrer? Yes! We are in process of becoming an amazing teacher as we wanted. We are studying at CREN, sometimes it gets hard, but we are always supported by mom and our true pasion for learning.

2. What about becoming Mexico's President? I'm sorry little Hanny, but we can't be teacher and President at the same time as you used to think hehe. Both occupations are hard, and our country is really corrupt, so it isn't easy to become Mexico's President.

3. Is mom still working hard all day at her job? No, mom find an amazing new job some years ago and now we spend a lot of time together as we always wanted. No more lonely days at home.

4. Do we have pets now? No, it's really sad, but our mom is still against pets, and we can't have any, no even a little fish. But don't lose hope, maybe someday she will change her mind.

5. Are we living a happy life? Yes! Now we have reached a lot of our dreams, like traveling with mom around Mexico, going to our favorite artists concerts, making delicious desserts and having REAL friends in our life who loves us.

From my present self to my younger self

1. What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a teacher and Mexico's President at the same time for changing the world!

2. Who was your best friend? My best friend was Cintia, we were so close and did everything together.

3. What did you like to do after school? I really liked to do my homework while watching "La CQ" on TV with my cousins.

1. What did you enjoy the most about helping your grandfather with the cattle, and do you still enjoy it the same way?

Since I was little, I would go help him, and I loved climbing the hills with him to take the cows. But nowadays it has become harder to help him the same way, since I have more responsibilities. Still, I enjoy the little I can help him now.

2. What sounds, smells, or landscapes from the countryside do you remember most vividly and still enjoy?

I really liked lying down on the grass, looking at the sky, and listening to the birds. I don’t do it as often lately, but I still enjoy it.

3. How did you feel having the responsibility of working at such a young age, and do you still feel the same way?

Since I was 7 years old, I had the responsibility of working. It was something really hard for me to accept. Sometimes I felt angry because I couldn’t go out and play like before. Now I see it differently, and it no longer makes me angry—now I enjoy my work.

4. Do you still prefer the countryside like before?

Now I think a little differently. I love the countryside, but as I’ve grown older, I see things in another way, because life as an adult there is harder.

5. What things you used to do with your grandmother do you miss the most?

My grandmother marked my childhood deeply. I grew up with her, and I miss talking with her and helping her take care of her pets.

6. Did you manage to become a teacher like you wanted since you were little?

I am still in the process and working hard to achieve that dream. Even though at one point I thought about studying another career, I never let go of the dream of enrolling at CREN.

During these last two years studying at CREN, I have experienced both positive and negative situations in different groups and schools. In my first year, I went just for observation in a third-grade group at Anexa Leona Vicario, and the next semester I moved to a fifth-grade group at Primaria Benito Juárez, these two groups were so lovely and I really enjoyed working with them for a few weeks. The students and teachers were so kind, they made me feel part of their group, and taught me many things.

In contrast, my last year practicum was very challenging and stressful. I went to Primaria Josefina Mejía and worked with fourth grade... If I could define those weeks in one word, I would definitely say "chaotic". I never received support from the teacher, he only obstructed my progress by introducing me to the kids as someone without any authority, so most of the students didn't pay attention to me. It was a really hard and frustating situation, but with Principal's help and al lot of self-courage, vocation and empathy, I did it, I understood their rebelliousness because of their context, and eventually, I worked peacefully with the most challenging group in the school... I have to admit that I used to think beheviorims was wrong, but now I understand that sometimes it is necessary.

In the future, I want to become a teacher who cares about what happens in my student's lives, someone who designes strategies to teach through games and fun activities. I would like my students to feel that our classroom is like a second home.

My experience in these two years has been positive. I've learned a lot from my classroom practice that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. I think this is what made me fall in love with the career, even though I considered dropping out in my second semester to pursue medicine. Working with kids has been a wild ride, but it's taught me to see things from a different perspective and be more patient and understanding. I've learned that every child is unique, but they all have something they're good at, and it's crucial to give them a nudge to help them shine in the classroom.

I believe the biggest challenges I'll face are student demotivation. A classroom should be a comfortable and secure space where everyone can thrive, but when students are unmotivated, it can disrupt the entire class dynamic. While some demotivation might be addressed with changes to the daily routine, I think it's more difficult when it stems from issues at home.
