         <description><![CDATA[<p><span>In the 1930's they moved on from silent films to films that had sound. Sound was a necessary addition to movie theaters. The ability to make their points visually and through sound allowed movies to become fast paced. Sound effects helped the theaters sell tickets. Sound also helped movies that wanted face-paced dialogue in their movie. </span></p>]]></description>

When people left these movies, they thought that the laws themselves were at fault. This ended the gangster movies era. </span></p></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><p><span>The Great Depression not only affected what was on screen, but what happened in the theaters. Ticket sales dropped 25% between 1930 and 1933, they began to recover the next year though. Theater operators began showing a double feature, showing two full length movies for the price of one, because they were struggling to hold onto their audiences. </span></p></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><span>In the 1930s, movies became a way to learn about the outside world, along with listening to the radio. Going to the movies, despite a decline caused by the Depression, was the most widespread form of commercial entertainment during the 1930's. The detailed and vivid image of life beyond neighborhoods, small towns, and farms might not have accurate, but it was the better than any other earlier impression. A lot of unemployed people went to the movies to escape their trouble.. Together, radio and film, helped connect people's daily lives, with the larger national culture. </span></p>]]></description>

In the 1930's the Academy Awards showed that movies could help distant people from their real lives The movies that won are movies that were popular around that time period. In 1939 the winner was <i>Gone With the Wind. Gone With the Wind</i> was an escapism movie. People liked to go see movies such as <i>Gone With the Wind </i>because it showed a whole different world that was completely different that the one they lived in.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><span>People started to have a new appreciation for horror movies. </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">They used this to escape their past, the Great Depression “This ruthless, strange, exciting drama of the 'undead', &nbsp;is what people said after they saw Dracula, but Frankenstein was a bigger hit , horror movies gave people a blood rush. In Frankenstein they dug up bones from the graveyard to give to Frankenstein. people misinterpreted the movie. The monster did not have a name the scientists who created him name was frankenstein. “It’s alive!” is one of their most famous lines.</span><span><br></span></p>]]></description>
