What is STEM Education?
STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.
What separates STEM from the traditional science and math education is the blended learning environment and showing students how the scientific method can be applied to everyday life. It teaches students computational thinking and focuses on the real world applications of problem solving.
Source: https://www.livescience.com/43296-what-is-stem-education.html

Real-World, authentic problems, and contexts:
STEM and PBL philosophies both focus on this specific facet of preparing students for life after school.
2. Interdisciplinary approach:
Students need to be proficient with academic content and skills across the curriculum, and both PBL and STEM focus allow students opportunities to develop this interdisciplinary view of their learning and of the word.
3. Skills needed for success in the workplace:
One of the main goals of both a PBL and STEM approach to learning is that students leave schools prepared with the skills they need in the workplace.
PBL provides a framework of instructional strategies and content practices which can be applied and used within STEM or any content area of choice.

What makes a PBL project powerful?
In a PBL project “My Magical Dust” one of a task is named “Children are the curriculum”.
What does that mean? A lesson or a project which is designed as per the interests or the nature of children will inspire them to learn. Somewhere inside us, we still have our childhood alive. Let's bring it back in our imagination and learn what was there that we wanted to learn? Or how we wanted it to be taught to you? Any lesson or any project that only meets the criteria of what adults want to teach can never be a good idea to teach.
Another key to making a project interesting and inspiring is the title. Title of the project can also help us to set goals for the project. It can be brainstorming the ideas for project activities. If we can align the project idea to the project title, we will get massive results.

The more excited it is, the better will be the result during and after the project. Unlike a traditional project or a unit, in project-based learning we introduce the project with an entry event. Entry event is a dramatic approach to introduce the project and it should be brief and memorable.
Once the project is designed, we must find some interesting idea for the entry event. It could be a video, a picture, or teacher can tell a story. Moreover, it can be a real-world exposure related to the project.

Understand that driving questions are for the teachers and the students.

Andrew Miller is a consultant for the Buck Institute for Education, an organization that specializes in project-based curriculum. She says;

Driving questions (DQ) can be a beast. When I train teachers, they say the same thing, "Writing the driving question is one of the hardest parts of an effective PBL." I agree. When I am constructing a DQ for a PBL project, I go through many drafts. It's only now, after implementing many projects and having coached countless teachers that I consider myself adept.

Our Driving Question Now Is: How to Write an Effective Driving Question?

First, we need to understand why we have them. Driving questions are there for two entities, the teacher and the student.

For the teacher: A DQ helps to initiate and focus the inquiry. Remember the project shouldn't be trying to solve the world's problems. Instead, it should be a focused action, and focused inquiry; the goal is to ensure the students are focused. The teacher needs to help focus the teaching and learning, and the driving question help with that.
It also captures and communicates the purpose of the project in a succinct question. When reading the driving question, the teacher and student should be clear on what the overall project is as well as its purpose. Also for the teacher, it helps to guide planning and reframe standards or big content and skills. Instead, use the driving question to reframe the standards in ways that are accessible to both you the teacher and the student.
For the student ultimately, the driving question is for the students. It creates interest and a feeling of challenge so that even the most reluctant student thinks, "Hmmm, I guess that sounds kind of cool."
It guides the project work. All work for the project, including the culminating project and daily lessons and activities, should be trying to help students answer the driving question. Whether it's a lesson on commas, or implementation time, or drill-and-skill with math problems, the work needs to connect to the driving question. Why? The seemingly "boring" activities of the day-to-day have reason, relevancy and purpose, and then guess what? They aren't boring anymore.
If our driving question is good, it can help connect that work so that students can articulate the reason behind daily lessons and activities.
My driving question is posted all over my classroom. It's on worksheets, the project wall, and the online blog. It is continually referred to while we are working on the project so students are reminded of the purpose of the project and daily work.

Question of the week:
Choose one of the following options; Driving question (DQ) of a PBL project should be?

complex and difficult to search on google

The teacher must be clear about his/her project idea and its objectives.
We must look at all aspects of the project. We must to discuss with the colleagues or with relevant people about our project idea. We must to ask them for suggestion. We must to think about all involved subjects and our target learning outcomes. If a teacher cannot describe learning outcomes clearly, it is because the idea of the project is not well understood.
After we successfully writing the learning outcomes, we must to move towards designing tasks/activities.
