The main idea of the prompt “is that Mendoza grew up in a community where she didn’t fit in and felt like an outcast, however when she grew older she realized that there was nothing wrong with her being unique/different. According to the text “I was in grade school, the teasing begin, and I was hurt and confused”. This shows that everyone teased Mendoza cause she wasn’t fitting in her neighborhood.

The main idea is that Mendoza had problems Fitting in with her community but as she got older she began loving herself and embracing her culture. In the text it states, ”why did everyone except me have blue eyes”. This shows that in the community she grew up in, she was the only one without blue eyes and she felt insecure and couldn't fit in. According to the text it also states, ” I absolutely love being unique and not walking the same path as everyone else.” This, however, shows that she changed and now likes to be unique and not being the same as everyone else. So, in conclusion, Mendoza couldn't fit in at the beginning but as she grew older she began feeling more secure and liking herself.

The main ideal of the text is to embrace your culture and yourself. This is true because in the beginning part of the text it talks about how she was made fun of for being Mexican. Also how she was not fitting in but her family was. But later on in the text she decided that she did not need to fit. Christina then began to embrace her Mexican culture and started not to care what people said. In the text it states “ My hair and eyes instead of being blond and blue... they were chocolate and espresso... why did everyone expect me have blue eyes.” This proves that she felt like and outcast because she was different compared to the other girls. Also in the text it state's “ I have embraced my Mexican heritage and have become proud of it.” This proves that she later on become proud of her heritage.

The main idea in, "I Couldn't Imagine Wanting to Dye my Hair Blond?" is that, Christina thought in the beginning she had to fit in with everybody else, later she learned that she didn't have to fit in and it was okay being contrasting to others. The text states, "Why did everyone except for me have blue eyes?...I was the product of the two-- the 'half-breed' daughter.." This quote demonstrates that before Christina thought she had to fit in. This is shown when Christina states she was a "half-breed", a half breed is a word usually used to describe an animal; however, Christina uses this word to describe herself showing she thinks of herself lowly like an animal. The text also states, "Looking back, I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blond to feel better about myself...diversity makes the world go round. I absolutely love being different and not walking the same path as everyone else." This quote explains that later towards in the end of the story Christina learns that even if she looks divergent to other people it's alright.

The central idea of "I couldn't Imagine Wanting to Dye My Hair Blond" is that in the beginning, Mendoza felt like an outcast but towards the end she started feeling good about herself. In the text it states, "Why did everyone except me have blue eyes?... My hair and eyes, instead of being blonde and blue like all of my Czech classmates', were chocolate and espresso." These quotes indicate Mendoza didn't feel good about herself because she was comparing her self to other's, and felt like she didn't look like other's. The text goes on to say, "...I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blond to feel better about myself." This quote demonstrates that as she got older, she felt more comfortable with herself and would never want to dye her hair blond to make her self feel good. This is why the central idea of "I Couldn't Imagine Wanting to Dye My Hair Blond" is that Mendoza didn't feel good about herself but as she got older she started feeling more comfortable with herself.

She was different from others, but she thought that being different is an unfortunate thing. But the actual problem was that she felt insecure and apprehensive .In the text it states," I felt I was stuck somewhere in the middle of my siblings, stuck in the middle of two cultures, and not accepted by either". This statement explains how she felt about herself being different. she thought she was going to fail everything. However afterwards she changes what she thinks.

The main idea in "I couldn't imagine Wanting to dye my hair Blonde?" is that no matter what you look like or whichever lifestyle you live in, you should be able to accept yourself because everyone is unique in their own special way. In the begging of the story, Christina felt very insecure about her appearance because she wanted to look like everyone else. She felt like an outcast and she felt her worth was less than everyone else's. Since everyone at her school had blue eyes and blonde hair, she was thinking about wanting to dye her hair blonde to fit in since she had "chocolate and espresso" hair and eyes as the text states. She also explains how she feels like a animal. The text states, " I was the product of the two- the "half breed" daughter..." The term "breed" is used for mostly dogs which implies that Christina feels like an animal. Late in the story Christina matures and realizes that she is perfect the way she is and she couldn't imagine wanting to dye her hair blonde

The passage states "My hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like all my Czech classmates ; were chocolate and espresso" . This shows that Mendoza isn't like her classmates and feels out of place because of her appearance.

The main idea of "I couldn't Imagine Wanting to Dye My Hair Blond" is accepting and loving yourself for who you are. Although Christina had trouble in the beginning, as time went by, she realized that her looks doesn't have to look like others to be beautiful. In the passage it states, "My hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like all of my Czech classmates',were chocolate and espresso." Christina was comparing herself to others because she was insecure about her self. She thought the definition of beautiful meant looking like others. But, later on she realizes the true definition. The text also states, "Time does have a way of healing things,....I have learned not to be ashamed of my ethnicity. Instead of hiding who I am, I have embraced my Mexican heritage and have become proud of it." Christina realizes she doesn't have to be ashamed of your ethnicity and looks. In conclusion, Christina embraces her beauty and ethnicity.

The main idea about the text “I couldn’t imagine wanting to dye my hair bland” is that Christina grew up in a community where she felt like an OutKast or outsider because she looked different and she would beat herself up over that. In the end she learns that she can embrace herself and the way she is. In the text it states “ Stuck in the middle of two cultures and not accepted by either”. This shows that she did not accept herself and felt lonely because she was different. In the text it states “ I have matured , I have learned not to be ashamed of my ethnicity.” This shows how later on in life she accepts herself and loves herself.
