Lke the article stated, English is very simplified compared to other languages. We tend to use less description with things, causing it to be broad and more simple. Friend in English can mean male or female, but in Spanish, you have to choose based on which the person is, causing the translation to be 2 words. I don't think Mandarin will take over because it's hard to learn. The writing is so difficult to master due to there being many letters and symbols.
