I chose this picture because the Medieval era was influenced by Catholic ideas, the basic ideas of what they believed came from the Catholic church.
This is a great example of a stained glass window of Mother Mary and her son Jesus Christ.

Renaissance Era - 1300 AD - 1700 AD

I chose this painting because in the Renaissance era, you start to see fewer religious themes. Instead, there was more emphasis on scenes from everyday life. For example, in this kind of chaotic scene, there are children playing and dogs running around while adults are going about their business.

Enlightenment Era - 1650 AD - 1800s AD

The Enlightenment era was based on ideas formed from intellect and logic. I picked this painting because in this era we see the ideas of liberty and freedom really take hold. It starts to become a trend for people to fight for their ideas and freedoms.

Romantic Era - 1780 AD - 1850 AD

I picked this painting because the Romantic era was about emotions and feelings. The French Revolution was somewhat governed by emotions. For example, sometimes a leader would be popular and considered nice, but later circumstances would cause him to be considered cruel and unpopular by the people. So I think that the French Revolution is a great example of the Romantic era.

I picked this painting because of the way the women are dressed and appear to be behaving. For example, this is how the people with Victorian era thinking thought women should dress and act. In the Victorian era, apperences and status in society were important.

This is a photo of the first man to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane, and the man who invented the rocket.
I chose this photo because the Modern era was a time of huge scientific developments. This is a good example, because of the progress people made in a short time in history. Humans went from flying an airplane across the ocean to going into space in just one generation!

Post-Modern Era - 1970 AD - 2000 AD

The Postmodern era questioned the traditional ideas and philosophies of the past. This picture is an example from the Postmodern era. The era had a wide variety of unconventional artwork that broke away from the old standards of what was defined as "art." For example, this silkscreen print combines words with an image and presents the idea of how we are defined by what we can afford or what we own. It also seems to point out how shopping can be an activity in itself and seems to be making fun of that.
