Ms. Lynch

Interview Viewed: Liz Heidlage, Kara Obermeyer, Alex Smith--Knee Replacement Surgery
Wow. This was a great interview. I found it extremely interesting that Mr. Macke perhaps would not have found his cancer if not for his surgery, and I learned that his quality of life has improved greatly since the surgery. For example, he is able to do a lot more at work now such as climbing ladders and crouching down that he wasn't able to do very well before the surgery.

I never thought about the amount of blood that could be lost during a surgery. I also thought it was interesting that her recovery process led to her to feel back to the way she was before. It made me realize that our surgeries that are being preformed today are more advanced.

Interview Viewed: Betsy, Kylie, Megan, Tatum
I thought the interview was really good. A little more eye contact with the person being interview might help the performance. I thought it was really interesting that she had to stay in the hospital for 4 days after because she lost a lot of blood. The surgery is already hard enough, let alone losing a lot of blood.

I can imagine her bone spurs would cause her quite a bit of trouble mobility wise. It’s amazing that she can now do all the things she likes like biking with virtually no trouble. I also found it interesting that she has to climb stairs a certain way.

Interview Viewed: Sidney Dickman, Chloe Saler, Catherine Raab

It’s both cool and sad how Mrs. Saler still feels pins and needles from the surgery. It’s ironic because she can’t fully extend her leg and I can’t fully extend my arm. Her cause of injury being sports related is common, but it is extremely unlucky her foot got stuck in the mud when she planted.

Interview Viewed: Kylie Laker, Betsy Harmeyer, Tatum Hanson, Megan Sloan

I’m surprised Mrs. Fifer got both knees replaced at the same time!

Interview viewed: Ethan Brewer, Levi Lowery, Nathan Villani, Zach Harmeyer - Double Hip replacement surgery. This was a good interview, but I think that the lighting could have been a bit better. I also had a hard time seeing Zach. I thought it was interesting that one of the reasons for the surgeries was that Mrs. Storms had bone spurs. I also thought that the recovery time was amazing. Overall I felt that this was a great interview that was carried out in an informative and professional manner.

Interview viewed: Liz Loichinger, Chloe Bishop, Katie Brewer, Nickie Fox - Knee. This was a pretty good interview. The lighting was good, but the audio was a little bit harder to deal with since it was outside and there were other various noises. As for the interview itself, though, I felt like it was well-planned and did its job. The interview was informative and professional. I also found the knee machine and physical therapy part to be interesting.

Interview viewed: Lilly Esser, Grace Sarringhaus - ACL. First off, the lighting and the audio was very good, making the interview easy to view and hear. The interview itself was very good as well. The questions (and follow-up questions) were on topic and really brought out the information required for this interview. I thought that hearing about the process of physical therapy and the path to feeling normal again were interesting, especially the question about how cautious she is with her activities today.

I found it super interesting that the surgery was only 45 min and then the recovery time was a lot longer. It was great to know that the knee ACL is so much stronger. It is good that you haven't torn your other ACL because for girls there is a little over 50% chance of injury your old ACL. I also relate to the amount of jumping she had to do in PT.

The arthritis must have been very painful if it was in both hips. It amazes be that doctors can make a procedure only an hour. In her PT on how fast they move them with movement. Wow. The outcome of the surgery has helped her tremendously with every day life skills.

It seems that the surgery really helped her and made moving much easier and pain free.

Interview viewed: Grace Sarringhaus and Lilly Esser-- ACL
This interview was great. I found it very interesting that simply running from one base to another could cause this injury. I also found it interesting that the surgery is so quick. It id great to hear that it healed properly and she was able to play softball pretty quick after. She did a good job making sure she was doing proper exercises.

Interview viewed: Liz Loichinger, Chloe Bishop, Nikki Fox, and Katie Brewer- Knee
This interview was great but I feel like the sound quality could be improved just a little bit. It was greta to hear that the surgery went well, but it was sad to hear that she reacted in such a negative way to the anesthesia. It would not be fun to be throwing up after having surgery. It was shocking that physical therapy was worse than the surgery. I am glad she is doing better!

Interview viewed: Gabe Ferguson- Hip
This interview was great but the lighting could be a lot better. The comment about the food being good made me laugh. It was great to hear that he did so well! It shocked me but it was good that he could pass by on Tylenol and not take any opioids. I am so happy that the surgery improved his quality of life that much.

I thought it was very interesting that she feels pins and needles where her scar is. I did not even think that there could be pain/complications from the scar and not just the ACL. I learned that even after all this time, she still cannot extend her right leg fully.

Also she said that its still can be painful at times especially when she touches the scarring from the surgery, because she surgery was 19 years ago i would've thought it would be 100% back to normal after that long.

Interview Viewed: Tabitha Drew/Knee- Her Knee was only supposed to last her 9-10 years but its lasted her 17 years with no pain since the surgery/recover process which i thought was interesting. I also learned how serious the surgery is which i never really thought about considering she couldn't drive or do certain tasks.

Interview Viewed: Charlie Laymon, Jacob Weigel, Austin Pohlman/Hip- I think its interesting that at his age he was able to recover as quickly as he did and with no issues. It was also mentioned that the doctors had done surgeries on older men than him which i didn't really think doctors would be able to do prior to this video because it is probably a lot more dangerous for older people.

Interview Viewed: Betsy Harmeyer, Kylie Laker, Megan Sloan, Tatum Hanson--(Double) Knee Replacement Surgery
I was really shocked when Betsy's grandma said that the surgery took 5 hours. That seems like a really long time to be under, and I didn't even think about how she would be losing a lot of blood. I was surprised that it only took her about a year for herself to feel bad to normal. I would think that after a surgery like she had the function and comfort level would never feel like it did pre-surgery.

Interview Viewed: Kylie Hammond, Zoey Peters, Abby Plemons, Madilyn Simmermeyer--ACL
I loved how this group used the different angles and shots of who was talking-very high tech. I was really surprised to hear that Katie only stayed in the hospital for 3 hours after the surgery. It was interesting to hear the difference between Katie and Jennifer and how different their experience was with an ACL injury. It only took Jennifer about 5 months to get back to softball but for Katie the recovery is taking a little longer.

Interview Viewed: Ethan Brewer, Levi Lowery, Nathan Villani, Zach Harmeyer--(Double) Hip Replacement Surgery
I can't imagine getting one hip replaced let alone 2! I also almost always think of much older people getting hip replacements due to their brittle bones and capability of breaking it. I learned that it was really the pain medications and the effect they have that limited Diana most especially to drive.

I also thought it was interesting that Jennifer tore her ACL in almost the same way Dee, the person we interviewed, tore her ACL. I figured it would have taken a much longer time for an ACL to be replaced or reconstructed.
