A well-loved Filipino custom, the Budol Fight unites people through a mutual enjoyment of delectable cuisine and group dining. A variety of traditional Filipino foods are served on a makeshift tablecloth made of banana leaves as part of an unusual gastronomic experience. After that, everyone assembles to enjoy the feast while holding hands, signifying equality and harmony. Filipino food has many different flavors, and the Budol Fight highlights them all with dishes like crispy lechon, sweet halo-halo, and savory adobo and sinigang. In addition to sating hunger, sharing meals with friends and family strengthens relationships and promotes camaraderie. This custom highlights the value of sharing and community in Filipino culture in addition to honoring the country's rich culinary legacy.

A classic Filipino custom, harana honors the art of wooing and amorous expression via song. A suitor serenades their sweetheart by singing passionate love songs outside her window as traditional instruments like the violin or guitar accompany them. Harana encapsulates the spirit of passion and devotion in the Philippines with lyrics that evoke strong feelings and emotions. Beyond its romantic associations, harana protects traditional Filipino music and storytelling as a cultural legacy. This charming custom evokes fond memories and thoughts of affection in both the performer and the recipient, while also serving as an expression of love and admiration and creating a sense of connection and nostalgia.

The female heroes of the Philippines, known as guerilleras, are examples of bravery, tenacity, and strength in the face of difficulty. These extraordinary women joined the resistance movement throughout times of oppression and conflict, fighting for justice and freedom alongside their male counterparts. Guerilleras bravely picked up arms, acted as intelligence spies, and gave vital support to the guerilla forces in spite of extreme obstacles and hazards. Their contributions, which showed unshakable adherence to the ideas of freedom and sovereignty, were crucial in the fight against colonization and oppression. Guerilleras made great sacrifices and acts of valor that not only guaranteed a better future for their country but also served as an inspiration to future generations, creating an enduring impression on Philippine history and popular culture.

Because they capture the spirit of Filipino identity and history, I chose the Budol Fight, Bayanihan, Harana, Mano Po, and Philippine Guerilleras for my Philippine Pop Culture "Padlet" Assessment. I was raised in an environment full of these customs, so I have personally seen the spirit of camaraderie, decency, and resiliency they represent. With its group feasting, the Budol Fight represents the generosity and friendliness that are deeply embedded in Filipino culture, creating relationships that last a lifetime. In a same vein, Bayanihan displays our community's strength of unity by showcasing our spirit of unity and readiness to work together to overcome obstacles. Harana evokes sentiments of love and nostalgia by symbolizing the romance and musical legacy that are ingrained in Filipino culture. Mano Po, a show of reverence for seniors, serves as a reminder of the principles of respect and humility that influence how we engage with others.
