The causes of poverty during the Progressive Era were bad neighborhoods, and barley any job opportunities. However, today discrimination, "gender and ethnicity", lack of need and not good education can cause poverty. Back then there weren't really any job opportunities other than farming. For example, one of the reformers during the Progressive Era was a journalor they didn't make a campaign or a fundraiser but they did make sure that people knew about poverty and how terrible it was. While another person was able to help by opening a house for people who are poor for more assistance. However, today reformers are making foundations to donate money to and campaigns as well.
